Gyth Rigdon, recent runner-up on The Voice national talent competition, will make his second appearance at the International Rice Festival this year.
Announcement of the return of the popular Louisiana singer/songwriter was made recently by Shanna Monk, Rice Festival coordinator, via social media.
Speaking on Facebook, Rigdon said, “It’s good to be back home in Louisiana. This is my second time at Rice Festival. Hopefully this year we’ll have better weather than last year but, rain or shine, it’s gonna be a party.”
Last year a light but persistent rain kept a lot of regular festival-goers indoors, but those who attended Rigdon’s concert from the Supreme Rice Sound Stage were treated to an all-out performance. Rigdon had performed earlier in 2018 at the Frog Festival in Rayne.
The announcement of this year’s appearance was made from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where Rigdon was appearing as part of the Carolina Country Music Fest.
Rigdon’s 2019 Rice Festival show will again be from the main festival platform from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, the closing night of Rice Festival.
Rigdon, of Singer, was named runner up in “The Voice” singing competition earlier this year.
The 25-year-old says his journey began at just 3-years-old. By the time he was 8, he was performing at churches, private parties, and talent shows.
Rigdon performed on Blake Shelton’s team throughout the competition, capturing the hearts of thousands of viewers across the country. His appearance on the show, now in season 16, was his second attempt to take home the crown. He previously auditioned in 2014.
Rigdon currently has two albums under his belt.
Also announced via social media, the Karmic Souls Family Band will perform on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., also from the Supreme Rice Sound Stage.
