Charges dropped in December shooting at Kathy Apts.

An Acadia Parish grand jury has refused to indict the suspect in a December, 2018, shooting death here.
A “no true bill” was returned in the case charging Belvin John Savoy with the second-degree murder of James Francis following an altercation at the Kathy Apartment Complex on Dec. 18, 2018.
According to reports, Francis was located behind the apartment complex with a single gunshot wound to the head at around 11 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office.
Savoy was arrested about six weeks after the shooting.
