Members of the Rayne Volunteer Fire Department (Fire Protection District #9 of Acadia Parish) celebrated the official opening of the new Rayne Fire Station, located in the 1100 block of The Boulevard, Rayne. The ceremonies were held Tuesday, Feb. 6, with Fr. Brent Smith presenting a blessing, Mayor Charles “Chuck” Robichaux extending welcome and congratulations on behalf of the city, and Chief Michael Cormier and 1st Assistant Chief Phil Hebert, along with most of the department’s officers and volunteers, assisting Robichaux with the cutting of the ribbon during the official grand opening of the new Rayne Fire facility. Thanks are expressed to all who have served the Rayne Fire District and provided the necessary funds for the new fire house located north of the rail way. (Acadian-Tribune Photos by Josie Henry)
