Sheriff announces precautions at parish jail as virus spreads
Sheriff K.P. Gibson has announced some procedural changes that have been implemented at the Acadia Parish Jail in light of the ongoing threat of the spread of coronavirus.
“With the outbreak of the coronavirus, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is taking precautions following Department of Corrections guidelines regarding inmate activity within our jail,” Gibson said. “Effective immediately, all non-essential people will not be allowed in during the next 30 days, including ministry groups and individuals for application fingerprinting.
“Obviously, we are still continuing video visitation being there is no contact with the public. We will review this matter in 30 days. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
