Volunteer Emergency Response Teams ready to help

The Louisiana United Methodist Disaster Response is currently matching up volunteer Early Response Teams with homeowners who need assistance with damage from hurricanes Delta and Laura.
All services are free but service is not guaranteed due to the overwhelming need, according to Julie Lafosse, volunteer.
Anyone needing assistance with damage from the recent hurricanes should call 844-965-1386. You will be connected with volunteers from local relief organizations, community groups and faith communities who may be able to assist with:
• cutting fallen trees;
• removing drywall, flooring and appliances;
• tarping roofs; and/or
• mold mitigation.
The volunteers work free of charge and provide the tools and equipment necessary to complete the work.
These teams cannot assist with social services such as food, clothing, shelter, insurance or questions about FEMA registration.
Louisiana United Methodist Disaster Response uses CrisisCleanup (www.crisiscleanup.org) as a database to organize the need for assistance.
The CrisisCleanup hotline will remain open through Oct. 30.
