Crowley Kindergarten celebrated February as Black History Month by starting everyday highlighting a famous African American throughout history. Students also completed a “Colors of the World” Art activity, read the story “I Am Enough” to all classes and enjoyed a Dress Day (above). Students participating in the Dress Day activity were, not in order, Ja’Coehan Mouton as Martin Luther King Jr., Diana Schexnider as Bessie Coleman, Samara Batiste as Misty Copeland, Aeden Barro as Henry Lewis, Christopher Minger as President Barack Obama, Shamiya Grace as Harriet Tubman, Azlee Fierros as Hariet Tubman, Maynor Guevara as President Barack Obama, Jae’Ceyon Guidry as Malcolm X, Kylen Clark as Martin Luther King Jr.. Jaxston Lee as Ray Charles, and Amarielle Bernard as Rosa Parks. Back from left are Heidi Kratzer, Instructional Assistant; Jacarie Fontenette, Paraprofessiona; Sabria Baker, Paraprofessional; and Angie Trahan, Principal. Fontenette and Baker planned all the activities to celebrate Black History Month.
