Elisha Freeman Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Crowley for Elisha Freeman Jr., 70, who passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, in Houston, Texas.
Father Godwin Imoru, pastor of St. Theresa Catholic Church, will be officiating the services.
The family is requesting visitation to be held Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8:30 a.m. until time of service at the church at 417 W. Third St. A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in the West Crowley Cemetery in Crowley.

Carl Quinn Sonnier

Carl Quinn Sonnier was born in Lafayette on March 8, 1969, and he was called from this earthly life on Oct. 26, 2019, at the age of 50.
Carl owned and operated Sonnier’s Welding & Fabricating as well as being a partner in Phantom Blinds.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and operating his winch truck along with spending countless hours at his shop. Most of all Carl loved helping others and spending time with his family and friends.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Carl is survived by his wife, Laura Miller Sonnier of Tee-Mamou; his son, Justin Quinn Sonnier (Tori) of Tee-Mamou; his granddaughter, Zoe Camille Sonnier; his brother, Brandon Soulier of Austin, Texas; his four sisters, Shelly Lee James of Basile, Shona Chesterman of Iota, Crystal Daire of Basile and Misti Bergeaux of Eunice.
Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Sherrice Calcote.
Funeral services for Carl Quinn Sonnier, 50 of Tee-Mamou will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Thursday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Gary DarDar and Brother Doug Doyle officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Jules/Tee-Mamou Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings began on Wednesday, Oc. 30, 3 p.m. and will continue until the time of his service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.
Carrying Carl to his final resting place will be Troy Orillion, Matt Miller, David Doise, Staffon Richard, Mark Guidry and Jimmy Romero.

Donald Joseph Chappuis

Donald Joseph Chappuis, born Feb. 5, 1923, in Rayne, passed away on Oct. 19, 2019, in Flower Mound, Texas, where he resided the last 3.5 years of his life.
Donald was the son of Elise Daboval and Archibald Chappuis. Donald was raised in Rayne and then attended Louisiana State University where he studied mechanical engineering. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1947 and later earned his Master’s of Science in 1962.
During World War II, Don served in the 157th Combat Engineer Battalion as Combat Engineer Unit Commander. His unit played an integral part in the Normandy invasion and continued their engineer activities of bridge building, etc., while in close support of Patton’s 3rd Army and Patch’s 7th Army.
The battalion took part in five campaigns including Normandy, North France, Rhineland, Ardennes/Alsace and Central Europe, ending up in Salzburg, Austria on VE Day , May 8, 1945.
Don had a successful career in mechanical engineering, specializing in design, procurement and construction of chemical plants and oil refineries. His work took him to many locations with the U.S. and abroad including Saudi Arabia, Edmonton, Canada and Cairo, Egypt.
Don was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Shirley, his wife of 67 years, predeceased him in 2016.
Don is survived by his seven children, Julie Dear and husband George of Roswell, Georgia, Nancy Chappuis of Dallas, Texas, David Chappuis of Needville, Texas, Mary Brooker and husband Mark of Boerne, Texas, Jean Chappuis Baltz of Boston, Massachusetts and husband William Baltz of Asheville, North Carolina, Diane Clemens and husband Don of Flower Mound, Texas, and Barbara Chappuis of Dallas, Texas. Grandchildren are Bradley Dear, Jeffrey Dear, Oliver Baltz, Andrew Baltz, Jacob Clemens, Stephanie Clemens, Joseph Kennemer and Lucy Kennemer. Great-grandchildren are Emma Dear and Harper Dear.
Don was predeceased by his brothers Richard, Steve, Jack and Charles; and sister, Dorothy Kemper.
In 1991, Shirley and Don retired to the beautiful mountains of Brevard, North Carolina, and lived in the Connestee Falls community. Don enjoyed hiking and the outdoors, watching LSU Tiger football, barbecuing and cooking gumbo.
He also served on numerous volunteer committees with Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Connestee Theatre Group and as a Hospice volunteer.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers that cared for him and took the time to make him feel loved and respected. They include Shirley’s Angels/Brevard, Frankie Ln and Rambling Oaks Assisted Living, St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church volunteers, and Ardent Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. at Saint Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville, Texas.
Don will be interred at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina, at a later date.

Michelle Marie Mathweg Guidry Ruddock

Michelle Marie (Mathweg, Guidry) Ruddock, 52, was unexpectantly called home by our Lord on Oct. 28, 2019, after a fighting a courageous battle while at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Michelle was a special delivery sent by God to Bobbie (Suffridge) Schmidt and Gerald Mathweg on July 15, 1967, where she joined her big brother, Timothy, in the quaint town of Randolph, Wisconsin. She became a big sister to Heidi, Robin and Anthony during her toddler years, and they all enjoyed a happy childhood playing with neighborhood kids dubbed “The Center Street Gang”, sledding down hills of snow, swimming in the local pool, and riding their bikes.
Michelle fell in love and later married Billie Guidry in October 1987. They moved from Wisconsin to Delcambre where they raised their three amazing children, Billie, Jonathon and Ashley. Their love carried them through many celebrations, joys, and challenges forging a strong bond until his unexpected death.
Michelle was blessed with the birth of her beautiful daughter, Shage, who added more love to their home.
Michelle met Rudy Ruddock in 2011, and in May 2013 they blended their families together adding Sadie to the fold. Michelle loved Rudy “to the moon and back.”
She made everyone smile as she joked around about how much she loved the Hallmark Channel (even in the summer). She cherished her friendship with her children as they become parents, making her family go to Mardi Gras Rio parades, cheering for Connor and Braxton at soccer games, going to Christmas and band concerts, and having sleep overs with Avery. Michelle was an amazing, understanding wife, momma, Maw Maw, Grandma, Granny, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Crowley for Michelle Marie Mathweg Ruddock.
Rev. Peter Gaughan, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to service time at First United Methodist Church.
Michelle is survived by her husband, Rudy Ruddock of Crowley; two daughters, Ashley Guidry of Maurice, Shage Guynes of Crowley; two sons, Billie Mathweg of Maurice, Jonathon Guidry of Broussard; step-daughter, Sadie Ruddock of Crowley; three grandchildren Braxton, Connor and Avery; mother and step-father, Bobbie and Robert Schmidt of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; her father, Gerald Mathweg of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; two sisters, Heidi Wallace of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Robin Johnson of Menomonie, Wisconsin; two brothers, Tim Mathweg and Tony Mathweg, both of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Guidry, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Pallbearers will be Billie Mathweg, Jonathon Guidry, Tim Mathweg, Tony Mathweg, Anthony Carmouche Jr. and Joe Mathweg.
