Dalton Joseph Monceaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Dalton Joseph Monceaux, 83, who died Sunday, May 19, 2019, at his home in Crowley.
Fr. Jason Vidrine will officiate for the services.
The family is requesting visiting hours be held Tuesday from noon until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mr. Monceaux dedicated 37 years of his life serving the agricultural industry. He also was an honorary Knights of Columbus member, a past Cub Scout Master, a past volunteer at the Recreation Department where he coached baseball and umpired, and was an active Woodman of the World member.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Codrey Hargrave Monceaux of Crowley; one daughter, Arlene Monceaux Wilson and husband David of Baton Rouge; four sons, James Eric Monceaux and wife Jackie of Holly Beach, Karl Anthony Monceaux and wife Carolynne of Welsh, Joseph Wade Monceaux of Sulphur and Christopher Jude Monceaux and fiancé Laura Marx of Crowley; one brother, Purvis Monceaux and wife Beverly of Kaplan; 14 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by her parents, Deusar and Neomie LaPointe Monceaux; and one sister, Bertile Hebert.

Mary Helen Hundley

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, May 20, 2019, at 2 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Mowata for Mary Helen Hundley, 21, who died Friday, May 17, 2019, at 3:15 p.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Mary Helen was an adorer at St. Lawrence Catholic Church Adoration Chapel, she was a faith filled young woman who was very devoted to her Catholic faith. She loved children and was a favorite Nanny among many children and parents in her community and worked six years alongside her family at Mo’Crawfish-N-Mowata.
She is a 2016 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish, a gifted athlete who played softball, volleyball, basketball and swimming. A 2019 graduate of LSUE with a Degree in business. She was so loved by all her family members and countless friends and an amazing role model to so many people especially her little sister.
Fr. Andrew Schumacher, Parochial Vicar at St. John’s Cathedral, officiated for the services. The family requested visiting hours Sunday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. A rosary was recited Sunday at 6 p.m. Burial was in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.
Mary Helen is survived by her parents, Michael and Katherine John Hundley of Mowata; one sister, Anne Katherine Hundley; six brothers, Michael Charles Hundley, Jr. and his wife Brooke, John Edward Hundley, Jack Thomas Hundley and his wife Cadie, Cecillius Joseph “C. J.” Hundley, II, Christian Joseph Hundley and Paul Albert Hundley all of Mowata; godchild and niece, Eleanor Brooke Hundley; nephew, David Michael Hundley; her maternal grandmother, Rose Marie Olinger John of Crowley; her best friend, Nicholas Roy Hanks of Crowley and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Rep. John N. John, Jr.; paternal grandparents, C. J. and Annie Hensgens Hundley.
Pallbearers were Michael Charles Hundley, Jr., John Edward Hundley, Jack Thomas Hundley, Cecillius Joseph “C. J.” Hundley, II, Christian Joseph Hundley, Paul Albert Hundley and Nicholas Roy Hanks.

Dudley J. “D. J.” Dupuis, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Dudley J. “D. J.” Dupuis, Sr., 87, who died Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 6:50 a.m. surrounded by his loving family.
D.J. was extremely active in his church parish, community and business associations. Some of his accomplishments included numerous positions with the 4th degree Knight of Columbus including Grand Knight. President of St. Lawrence of Mowata Parish Council, President of St. Michael’s of Crowley Parish Council, President of Rotary International Club of Crowley, Acadia Parish Police Juror, President of Crowley Chamber of Commerce, President of Wholesale Distributors Association President of American Supply Association and a member of Acadia Post 15.
D.J’s greatest joys included dancing with his beautiful wife, holding and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, making sausage and boudin with his sons and grandsons, visiting with his friends and customers and knowing his children are happy.
Fr. Brent Smith, parochial vicar of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, officiated with Msgr. Paul Metrejean concelebrating. The family requested visiting hours Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A rosary was recited Monday at 6 p.m. by Deacon Dan Didier. The burial was in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mr. Dupuis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sybil Laughlin Dupuis of Crowley; two daughters, Jana D. Strickland and her husband Jim of League City, Texas, Lori D. Simpson and her husband Rich of Great Mills, Maryland; three sons, John Dupuis and his wife Lisa of Florence, Alabama, Darren Dupuis and his wife Danna of Shreveport, David Dupuis and his fiancé Nicole of Crowley; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Idee Guilbeaux Dupuis; three sisters, Jacqueline Dupuis Trahan, Jeanie Dupuis Dubey and Mary Lou Darbonne; three brother, V. L. Barnhill, Lloyd Barnhill and Bea Dupuis.
Pallbearers will be Michael Dupuis, Noah Dupuis, Jared Dupuis, Blake Greener, Steven Kennedy, Tyler Simon.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Aertker, Dr. Wade May, Dr. Dale Leleux and Lamm Hospice Care for the care they gave to D.J. We would also like to thank those that took such good care of our husband and father, Weyland Robinson, Shirley Cormier, Frances Guidry, and Robin Legros and the many friends that provided prayers and blessing to all.

Ruby Brewton Mooney

RAYNE - Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Brewton Mooney, 85, of Rayne, will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, Rayne. Reverend Christopher Blanchard will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2, Rayne.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM in Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne, and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until service time in the funeral home.

Mrs. Mooney passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in her residence.

Mrs. Mooney was a faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Rayne, where she served as church treasurer for many years. She retired from Armstrong Middle School in 1987, having served as secretary, teachers aide, substitute teacher, and whatever other roles were needed. Mrs. Mooney's greatest joy in life was spending time with and caring for her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn M. Hoffpauir and husband, Greg of Lake Charles; sons, Michael L. Mooney and wife, Elizabeth of Rayne, and Danny N. Mooney and wife, Lisa of Rayne; sister, Johnnie B. Laing of Mer Rouge; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceding Mrs. Mooney in death were her husband, William L. "Bill" Mooney; parents, Bertha Warren Brewton and Elmer N. Brewton, Sr.; and brother, Elmer N. Brewton.

Serving as pallbearers are Clint Pennick, Jacob Garland, Charles Courts, Rene Gaspard, Jacob Mooney, Seth Mooney, Glenn Compliment, and Thomas Gaspard. Named as honorary pallbearer is Daniel Forest.
