Shots fired at Rayne residence over weekend

Rayne Police Chief Carroll J. Stelly announced that his office is investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred over a 24 hour period this weekend.
On Saturday, May 12, Rayne Police officers responded at 9:42 p.m. of multiple shots fired into a residence on the 500 block of Holt Avenue in Rayne. No one was injured in the incident.
Gun shots were again reported on the 500 block of Holt Avenue on Sunday, May 13, at 2:47 p.m. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Both crime scenes were processed by detectives and evidence was recovered, all of which was submitted to the Acadiana Crime Lab for analysis and comparison.
Detectives are asking that anyone who may be a witness to the crimes or have information, contact Rayne Police at 334-4215 or Crimestoppers of Acadia Parish 789-TIPS- 789-8477. Callers will remain anonymous and could receive up to a $1,000 cash reward.

Montique Joseph Daigle

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Montique Joseph Daigle, on April 4, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at his home in Bedford, Texas.
Monty was born in Port Arthur, Texas, to John Daigle and Sarah Credeur Daigle on Feb. 8, 1956.
He is survived by one daughter, Amy Grustien; one grandson; one sister, Sandra Daigle Trahan; two brothers John Daigle Jr. and wife Betty and Michael Daigle and wife Janet; as well as five nephews and one niece.
There will be a memorial service on May 19 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 901 E. Elm St., from 10 a.m. until noon.
Father Jason Vidrine will be officiating at the services.
Monty will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Crowley, in the Daigle Family Plot.
We welcome all family and friends to attend.

Edward Tenola Guidry

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at Berean Church, 325 E. Elm St., Crowley.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. until the time of service.
Edward Tenola Guidry, 34, was born in Houston, Texas, to the late Patricia Guidry and the late Lawrence Ballard. He then moved to Crowley and resided with his grandfather the late Lester Guidry.
Edward was a member of the Berean Baptist Church, where he was in training to be a deacon.
Edward, also known as Maine/Slim, attended Crowley Middle School. He enjoyed all sports especially the Crowley High Football team and the New Orleans Saints.
In his past-time he enjoyed collecting scrap, spending time with his family, kids, and playing dominoes. Edward loved to eat.
Edward has four sisters, Latasha Guidry of Richmond, Texas, Lynn Ballard of Houston, Texas, Shannon Collins of Houston, Texas;, and Courtney Ballard of Houston, Texas; and one brother, Lawrence Ballard, Houston, Texas.
Edward married Kebrina Evans in August of 2010. Together they have four daughters, Destiny Bernard, MartayShia Guidry, Lauren Carter and Danye Guidry; one son, Aries Guidry; and one granddaughter, Amarielle Bernard.
Edward is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Guidry; his father, Lawrence Ballard; his grandfather, Lester Guidry; his sister, Tameika Guidry; and grandmothers Shirley May Guidry and Jewel Ballard.
He leaves behind his wife Kebrina; children; godparents, Lessie Peoples and Raywood Davis; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Vanessa Michelle Morgan

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Baptist Church for Vanessa Michelle Morgan.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Vanessa Michelle Morgan was born on Nov. 28, 1960, in Crowley, to Florida Scott Morgan and the late Willie Morgan Sr. She attended school in Crowley and resided in Crowley all of her life.
Vanessa was a member of St. Joseph Baptist Church. She was employed by the American Legion Hospital for 16 years.
She departed this life on Saturday, May 5, 2018, surrounded by her family.
Vanessa will be remembered for her love and dedication to her children, grandchildren and her family.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories four sons, Reginald George Sr., Ronelle George Sr. (Shada), Jemelle George and Jeremy Thomas; one daughter, Chelsea Thomas, all of Crowley; eight grandchildren, Reginald George Jr., Liberty George, London George, Ronelle George Jr., Tahj George, Jaislyn Thomas, Jaylon Tatman and JaVante Bellard; her loving mother, Florida Morgan; three sisters, Verneal Scott of Crowley, Tanyun (Danny) Fontnette of Port Arthur, Texas, and Callie Kennerson of Opelousas; four brothers, Willie Morgan Jr. (Joann), Dwight Scott, Dexter Scot, Sr. (Cynthia), all of Crowley, and Tony Scott (Cathy) of Rayne; godchildren, Lance Scott and Janessa Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Vanessa was preceded in death by her father, Willie Morgan Sr.; brother, Donald Morgan; sister, Dawanna LaChel Morgan; and niece, Florida Shanea Scott.
Special thanks also to Dr. Rebecca Davis, Dr. Satiner Saini, Lamm’s Hospice Service and Nursing Staff, especially Lisa Istre and Brittany Thibeaux.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 12, at St. Joseph Baptist Church from 8 a.m. until time of service.
