RAYNE - A Mass of Christian Burial for Viola Moore Roy, 87, of Rayne was celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne. Entombment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2, Rayne.
Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 8, from 5 p.m until 9 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.. Visitation continued on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her former husband, Walter Roy; parents, Willie Moore and Aline Menard Moore; step-mother, Matilda Moore; sister, Mable Moore Guidry; and brothers, Wallace Moore, Lynn Moore, Waddy Moore, William “Bill” Moore and Gilbert Moore.

Joseph Thomas “Spunky” Carter

Joseph Thomas Carter — “Spunky” — departed this earthly life on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, in Lafayette.
He was born on Monday, Oct. 10, 1955, to Mary Mouton Carter and Viese Carter Sr.
Carter was an employee at Hollier Flooring for 20 years and then became self-employed.
He leaves to cherish his memories wife, Nelwyn B. Carter of Crowley; one daughter, Chastity Ervin (Phillip) of Houston, Texas; one son, Joseph Thomas Carter Jr. of Lafayette; two granddaughters Ebonique Cudges and Dantyana Peters-Ervin of Houston, Texas; two stepchildren, Celethia Allen of Houston, Texas, and Artis McCrea III of Dallas, Texas, and their children, Jesyka R. Anderson, Darius Yokum, and A’Najah S. McCrea; two sisters, Ann Colomb (James) of Church Point and Essie Senegal (Warren) of Lafayette; three brothers, Joseph Walker of Beaumont, Texas, Frank Henry of Lafayette and Josef Carter of Lafayette; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Mary Mouton Carter and Viese Carter Sr.; three sisters, Selena Carter, Georgia Russell and Mary Lee Carter; six brothers, Leroy Carter, Jessie Carter, Viese Carter Jr., Clarence Walker, Rodney Henry, and Percy Carter.
Joseph “Spunky” will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
The family for Joseph “Spunky” Carter Sr. would like to extend our heartfelt expressions of thanks for your thoughtfulness, prayers, visits, words of comfort, and all other acts of kindness shown to us during our time of bereavement. Special thanks to the Carpenter Hospice Hospital and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital ICU and 5 North Staff.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Ford and Joseph Funeral Home, Inc., 577 N. Avenue C, Crowley.
Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Greater Love Family Worship Center located at 1001 N. Avenue E, Crowley.
Repass at O.T’s on Hutchison Avenue.

Clotis “Blue” Pormier

Funeral services will be held for Clotis “Blue” Pormier, 93, at Roberts Cove Church of Christ at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, with Brother Derek Richard and Brother Jack Harris officiating.
Visitation will begin in the Duhon Funeral Home - Crowley Chapel on Friday, Jan. 5, at 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. until just prior to the time of service.
Interment will follow the church service and will be in Kie Hebert Cemetery in Roberts Cove.
Mr. Pormier passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018.
Mr. Pormier is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Lucille L. Pormier of Rayne; children, Eileen Hall-Stark and husband Shiel Louis Stark of Baytown, Texas, Sylvia Scherr and husband Edward of Roberts Cove, and Michael Pormier of Roberts Cove; grandchildren, Angel LeJeune, Craig Lee Hall, Denice Stillman, Eric Wayne Hall, Hollie Wyatt and Mistie Pormier; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Louise Lawrence of Baytown, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Molear Pormier and Clovinia Mendoza Pormier; son, Rogers Pormier; brothers, Houston Pormier, Molear Pormier Jr. and Chester Pormier; sisters, Hazel Kibodeaux and Moteal Cormier.
Pallbearers will be Eric Wayne Hall, Craig Lee Hall, Gary Lee Hall, Michael Wyatt, Josh LeJeune and John LeJeune.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Lynn Scherr, Shiel Louis Stark and Donald Ray Harris.
