Nella Breaux Duhon

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Crowley for Nella Breaux Duhon of Crowley, who died peacefully at age 101 in the home of her late sister, Duiby Martin, on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 23, 2016.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morse, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. by the Immaculate Heart of Mary Ladies Altar Society. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Nella, affectionately known as Nannie to her family was born on Sept. 1, 1915, in Maurice, the sixth of nine children to Theophile and Celise Vincent Breaux. At age 15 she married Eraste Duhon. Theirs was a remarkable marriage lasting 82 years until Eraste’s death in 2012. In the 1940s, they moved from Maurice to Crowley where after World War II they where joined by her sister and brother-in-law Duiby and Benoit Martin. Living next door to each other, Nella devoted herself to helping the Martin’s raise their seven children. In their daily routine, Nella did the washing and ironing and Duiby cooked the large mid-day meal. The children viewed her as their second mother to the end. Both widowed Duiby and Nella spent their last years together.
Nella was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society. She took special pride in baking cakes for the churches many sales. The family also has fond memories of her fresh, made from scratch maque choux, of her help canning figs and her hours spent shelling pecans.
Nella was preceded in death by her husband Eraste; her parents, Theophile and Celise; and her brothers and sisters, Odan Breaux, Ethel Landry, Anna Duhon, Theola Vincent, Osta Breaux, Stallace Breaux, Uta Maynard and Duiby Martin.
She is survived by her seven nieces and nephews and their spouses, Lindell and Ernest Perez of Houston, Wavey and Sue Bearb Martin of Conroe, Texas, Brenda and Terry Robert of Gonzales, Mona Binion of Centennial, Colorado, Katry and Lisa Leger Martin, Marion and Jackie LeDoux Martin and Phil and Sarah Hoffpauir Martin, all of Crowley; 22 grand- and 38 great-grandnieces and -nephews .
Thanks is extended to a wonderful group of caregivers who gave Nella great comfort in her final years including Inez “Toot” Vincent, Emma Castile, Tonya Sherrick and Paula Caplinger. A special thanks to St. Joseph’s Hospice of Lafayette, nurse Kathleen Guidry and caregivers Margie Castillo, Jessica Myers and Rita Monceaux who cared for her in her final months
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Hilda Leon Lantier

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Hilda Leon Lantier, 90, who died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at 10:20 p.m. at Encore Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Crowley.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church-Lafayette, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. by Deacon Paul Matte. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Scott.
Hilda Leon Lantier was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Rayne to the late Oren and Lena Stelly Leon. Hilda is gone physically but she will always live in our hearts.
Mrs. Lantier is survived by one son, Darrell James Lantier of Crowley; two daughters, Cheryl Lantier Petry and husband Dwayne of Crowley and Judy Lantier Provost and husband, Donald of Opelousas; six grandchildren, Ron Joseph Lantier and wife Marlo Decker Lantier of Kingwood, Texas, Amelia Lantier Lambert of Westlake, Brian Petry and wife Mandy Doucet Petry of Aurora, Colorado, Bradley Petry and wife Andree Naquin Petry of Lafayette; Coby Davis II and wife Tanita “Ty” of Houston and Matthew Provost and wife Dana Richard Provost of Houston; 11 great-grandchildren, Megan Lantier, Ali Lantier, Amber Lantier, Katlynn Chubbic, Kyle Chubbic, Kasey Chubbic, Victoria Petry, Matthew Petry, Coby Davis III, Paris Elizabeth Davis and Alex James Provost.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Wallace Lantier; her parents, Oren and Lena Stelly Leon; two brothers, Norris Leon Sr. and Hilery Leon.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Petry, Brian Petry, Bradley Petry, Ron Lantier, Don Provost and Roy Leon.

We thank God for Mom’s wonderful caregivers at Encore Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center along with Heart of Hospice.
Encore Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center hospitality was excellent. Their nurses and care givers were so caring and everyone was so friendly. The facility was always so clean.
Heart of Hospice took good care of Mom. Her nurse was more than a nurse. She cared for Mom, always looking out for her and spending time with her. Mom’s aide was everything to her. Mom even gave her a new name, she called her Mary and her aide went along with that. She just loved Mary and would lighten up when she saw her. Mom loved all of them and we can’t thank you’ll enough. YOU’LL WERE ALL A BLESSING.

Charles Clement

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Charles Clement, 94, who died Oct. 22, 2016, at Acadia General Hospital.
Fr. Mikel Polson, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Monday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mr. Clement was a member of the United States Army and served during World War II in Austrailia and the Pacific. He worked for Sun Oil as a material manager until his retirement in 1982.
He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Clement Saxton of Church Point; two sons, Calvin Clement of Crowley and David Ross Clement of New Orleans; four grandchildren, Gardener Clement, Charles Clement, Scott Reed Jr. and Madeleine Reed Meche; and six great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Heffner Clement; his parents, Ursine and Augusta Clement; three sisters, Lena Brand, Mabel Savant and Gustie Darphin; and one brother, William Clement.
Pallbearers will be Scott Reed, Jr., Zach Meche, Gardener Clement, Charles Clement, Bronson Yeager, and Lamar Thibodeaux.

Jimmy J. Sonnier

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Jimmy J. Sonnier, 51, who passed away on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at 10:19 a.m. at his home in Crowley.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Broussard, will be officiating for the service. Burial will be in the Abshire Cemetery in Rural Kaplan.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 7 o’clock in the evening. Visitation will resume on Monday, Oct. 24, at 8 a.m. until time of services.
Survivors include three brothers, Nelson and wife, Mamie Sonnier of Crowley, Vernice and wife Debbie Sonnier of Springs, Texas, and Michael and wife Missy Sonnier of Egan; one sister, Kathleen and husband Alvin Thibodeaux of Egan; seven nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and nephews.
Jimmy enjoyed helping at Christmas time selling Christmas Trees with Louie and Kyle Nebo on Parkerson. He loved spending time with family and playing bingo.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Obray and Eula Sonnier; his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Olivia Guidry Abshire; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. August Sonnier.

Stanford J. Domingue

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for Stanford J. Domingue, 86, who passed away on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at 1:04 a.m. at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Deacon Dennis Lacroix, from St. Joseph Catholic Church will be officiating for the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church New Cemetery in Rayne.
The family requested the visitation be held on Friday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. Deacon Barry from St. Joseph Catholic Church recited a Rosary on Friday at 6 o’clock in the evening in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation resumed on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 8 a.m. until time of services.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia and husband Gregory Guilbeau of Duson and Betty and husband Robert Babineaux of Duson; one son, Charles and wife Deanna Savoy of Broussard; three brothers, Irvin Domingue of Scott, Purvis Domingue of Mire and Gilford Domingue of Crowley; one sister, Joyce Domingue of Rayne; six grandchildren, Christopher J. Guilbeau of Duson, Dwayne and wife Christine Babineaux of Duson, Michelle Cummings and husband Kenneth Autin of Rayne, Chad and wife Krystal Savoy of Broussard, Rachel Babineaux and husband Derrick Begnaud of Lafayette and Ashley Cummings and husband Dwayne Derise of Rayne, seven great-grandchildren, Brandy Faulk and husband Phillip Viator, Crystal Faulk, Sydnee Babineaux, Dorothy Jane Savoy, Mary Kate Savoy, Layne Autin and Madelynn Derise; and two great-great-grandchilden, Ryleigh Teal Comeaux and Drake Comeaux.
Mr. Domingue was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Bel P. Domingue; two sons, Bryan Domingue and Dean Cummings; his parents, Whitney and Anita B. Domingue; and one brother, Elmo Domingue.
