LSUE Bengals’ baseball players shine during summer league action

Eight current and former LSU Eunice baseball standouts have been named to their respective summer league All-Star teams throughout the country headlined by Tidewater Summer League MVP, Evan Keller.
Keller was one of four recent LSUE graduates to play for the Lakewood Legends of the Tidewater Summer League in Virginia Beach, Va. The Southeastern Louisiana signee was not only the league's MVP, but was named the All-Star MVP after a 2-hit, 2-RBI performance in his North Team's 6-0 win.
The league champion Lakewood Legends also featured Tristan Welch, Austin Kirkpatrick and Bren Faulk. Welch and Kirkpatrick also suited up in the TSL All-Star Game. The Legends captured the league championship with a 19-17 defeat of the Norfolk Redbirds, headlined by Keller's six-hit, four RBI outing.
The Hamptons League in New York is home to four LSUE student-athletes including All-Star members Javier Vaz and River Town. Vaz currently ranks fourth in the Hamptons League in batting average (.333) for the North Fork Ospreys, while Town is ninth in batting average (.320) and fifth in hits (32) for the Sag Harbor Whalers. Town is joined by Duke Jordan on the Whalers, and Reed Babin plays for the Southampton Breakers.
The Midwest Collegiate League's All-Star Game had two LSUE representatives, Scott Jones and Austin Andrishok of the DuPage County Hounds. The duo is joined by Brady Hebert on the Hounds this summer. Jake Hammond was selected to the Sunflower Collegiate League's East All-Star team while suiting up for the Derby Twins along with Julian Leon and Brenton Theils.
