Sun Belt releases men’s basketball schedule

Returning to a 20-game Sun Belt Conference schedule for the first time in four years, the Sun Belt Conference released the 2019-20 men's basketball schedule earlier in the week.
Louisiana, which finished 19-13 overall last season and 10-8 in Sun Belt action, will face nine league opponents in home-and-home contests with single dates against league rivals Appalachian State (Jan. 6) and Coastal Carolina (March 3).
The Ragin' Cajuns will open their league schedule on the road on Dec. 18 against Arkansas State before opening its SBC home slate against Little Rock on Dec. 21 at the Cajundome.
Louisiana will host South Alabama (Jan. 2), Troy (Jan. 4), UT Arlington (Jan. 16), Texas State (Jan. 18) and ULM (Jan. 25) during the month of January. The Ragin' Cajuns will play four games at home during the month stretch of the season beginning with Georgia State (Feb. 6) before facing Georgia Southern (Feb. 8), Arkansas State (Feb. 27) and CCU.
The Jan. 6 game against App State will be the first of three straight on the road for the Ragin' Cajuns, who will also travel to face GSU (Jan. 9) and Georgia Southern (Jan. 11). Louisiana will also travel to face UTA (Jan. 30), Texas State (Feb. 1), South Alabama (Feb. 13), Troy (Feb. 15), ULM (Feb. 22) and Little Rock (Feb. 29).
The 2020 Sun Belt Men's Basketball Championship will once again see 10 vying for the tournament title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship.
First-round games on Saturday, March 7, second-round games on Monday, March 9 and quarterfinal games on Wednesday, March 11 will be held on campus sites and hosted by the higher seeds. The semifinals on Saturday, March 14 and championship game on Sunday, March 15 will be held at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will receive byes directly to the semifinals, the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will receive byes and host the quarterfinal games, the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds will host the second-round games and the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds will host the first-round games.
All nine games of the championship are slated for live coverage on the ESPN family of networks.
Louisiana's non-conference schedule, TV schedule and tip-off times will be released at a later date.
