Vincent William Zaunbrecher, Jr.

RAYNE - A Mass of Christian Burial for Vincent William Zaunbrecher, Jr., age 57, of Roberts Cove will be celebrated on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 2:00 PM in St. Leo IV Catholic Church, Roberts Cove. Father Brent Smith will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Leo IV Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM in Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the funeral home.

Mr. Zaunbrecher passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 in a Conroe, TX hospital.

A native and lifelong resident of Roberts Cove, Mr. Zaunbrecher was a member of St. Leo IV Catholic Church. He was owner and operator of Zaunbrecher Air Conditioning Company, and Zaunbrecher Cattle Company. Mr. Zaunbrecher was passionate about his work, and always gave 100% to everything he did.

Always the life of the party, Mr. Zaunbrecher loved to listen and dance to classic country music, and to entertain friends and family. He was a loyal friend, always giving of himself to others. His greatest joy in life was his family, and he made sure they knew that he loved them.

Survivors include his children, Blanche Hernandez and husband, Kenneth of Youngsville, Valerie Keaton and husband, Doug of Crowley, Jeron Abshire and significant other, Lacy Johnson of Mire, Cody Duhon and significant other, Kelsey Nolan of Rayne, and Amanda Campbell and husband, Ray, Jr. of Rayne; siblings, Deborah Forte of Roberts Cove, Greg Zaunbrecher of Atlanta, GA, Pat Zaunbrecher and wife, Kelli of Roberts Cove, Mark Zaunbrecher of Roberts Cove, and Stephanie Vice and husband, Rusty of Roberts Cove; grandchildren, Hayden Hernandez, Heath Hernandez, Cooper Cary, Caroline Keaton, Charlotte Keaton, Griffin Keaton, Karson Rozas, Owen Abshire, Max Campbell, and Nash Campbell; canine companion, Merle; several Godchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Vincent William Zaunbrecher, Sr. and Geneieve Parrino Zaunbrecher; and brother-in-law, Tom Forte.

Serving as pallbearers are Greg Zaunbrecher, Pat Zaunbrecher, Mark Zaunbrecher, Darryl “Beanie” Zaunbrecher, Brian “Yup” Zaunbrecher, Cody Duhon, and Jeron Abshire. Named as honorary pallbearers are Doug Keaton, Kenneth Hernandez, and Ray Campbell, Jr.

Geraldine Hoffpauir Sarver

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for Geraldine Hoffpauir Sarver, 89, who died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at 7:38 a.m. in Crowley.
Rev. Mark Brousssard, chaplain for Lamm Hospice, will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Monday from 11 a.m. to service time.
Mrs. Sarver is survived by one daughter, Judy Mitchell of Crowley; three sons, Marion “Buzz” Sarver of New Orleans, Michael Sarver of LeClaire, Iowa, and Larry Sarver of Lake Arthur; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Sarver; her parents, Marion and Ethel Spell Hoffpauir; three sisters, Hattie Sarver, Katherine Rhames and Gloria Comeaux.

Clifton A. Istre

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Feb. 25, at noon at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Clifton A. Istre, 90, who died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at 8:45 a.m. in Crowley.
Mr. Istre was a native and lifelong resident of Crowley. He served as the market manager for the former National Food Store in Crowley.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country during World War II.
Fr. Jason Vidrine, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mr. Istre is survived by one daughter, Donna Schmid and husband Greg of Crowley; two sons, Kenneth Istre and wife Priscilla of Lake Charles, and Clifford Istre and wife Dianna of Crowley; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary A. Istre; his father, Ernest Istre; his mother and step-father, Alma Faulk Magnon and Olson Magnon; one brother, Oscar Istre.

Elise Gauthier Abshire

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata for Elise Gauthier Abshire, 77, who passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at Resthaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake Charles.
Fr. Joseph Tran, pastor of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, will be officiating for the services.
The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Tuesday from 11 am to 2 pm at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
She is survived by one son, Michael Abshire and wife Robin of Lake Charles; two sisters, Eva Guidry of Crowley and Alzina Gauthier of Kenner; two grandchildren, Lane Abshire and wife Meagan of Kaplan, and Kristen Abshire of Lake Charles; and five great-grandchildren, Parker Abshire, Tucker Abshire, Bentley Rivere, Baylen Rivere and Shyann Abshire.
Mrs. Abshire is preceded in death by her husband, Bernice Abshire; her parents, August and Edna LeBlanc Gauthier; six brothers; five sisters; and two great-grandchildren, Kaloni and Haven Abshire.
Pallbearers will be Lane Abshire, Jeff Leonards, Chris Coleman, Lenny Ward, Kyle Williams and Jude Leonards.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Aertker and his staff, Vickie, Joyce, Melinda, and Shelly with Brighton Bridge Hospice; especially Charlie and Mona Ward; and numerous family and friends for all the care, compassion, and kindness provided to Mrs. Elise and us as a family.
