Ravis Joseph Constantin

RAYNE - A Mass of Christian Burial for Ravis Joseph Constantin, age 86, will be celebrated on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne. Father Christopher Cambre, Associate Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2, Rayne.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.

Mr. Constantin passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 in a Lafayette hospice facility.

A lifelong resident of the Rayne area, Mr. Constantin served in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years as a farmer, and was a retired meat inspector for the State of Louisiana. Mr. Constantin was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as an usher.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Constantin of Rayne; daughters, Lisa Janise and husband, Kevin of Plano, TX, and Maria Constantin of Abbeville; son, Richard Constantin and wife, Christene of Abbeville; grandchildren, Cameron Constantin, Alexander Constantin, Benjamin Constantin, Alexander Janise, and Katherine Janise; sister, Wanda Schexnyder of Crowley; his wife's children, Janet Dickerson, Ronald Theriot, and Mark Stevens; and his wife's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mr. Constantin in death were his parents, Mayo Constantin and Edna Bonin Constantin; his wife's daughter, Patricia Poirrier; and his wife's granddaughter, Ansley Dickerson.

Serving as pallbearers are Cameron Constantin, Alexander Constantin, Benjamin Constantin, Alexander Janise, Kevin Janise, and Richard Constantin.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Mr. Constantin's caregivers, Jan Moreau and Heaven LeBlanc, as well as the staff of Carpenter House for the compassionate care Mr. Constantin was given.

John “Plut” Nicholas Dupont Sr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict de Moor Catholic Church for John Nicholas Dupont Sr., a lifelong resident of Rayne, who was called home while surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at 12:01 a.m. at the age of 66.
Services will be conducted by Father Aaron Melancon.
Interment will be in St. Benedict de Moor Cemetery.
John, better known to those who love him as Plut, was born on Aug. 23, 1952, to Rose Anna Williams and Peter Dupont Sr. in Rayne. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Rayne.
A graduate from Holy Rosary High School, he attended trade school where he was certified in automotive mechanics and automotive body repair. After trade school, John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed at Castle Air Force Base in Atwater, California, as an aircraft mechanic until he was honorably discharged in 1976. He then returned to Rayne, where he lived out the remainder of his life with his loving family and retired from retail management at Lowe’s.
Plut’s memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 44 years, Debra Brown Dupont of Rayne; his three children, Maria Dupont and John (Casey) Dupont Jr. of Rayne, and Amy (Arthur) Dupont-Metoyer of Houston, Texas; his eldest brother, Melvin Dupont of Rayne; his grandchildren, Cierra Lane, Jailyn Lane, Asiah Dupont, Alana Bertrand, Alyssa Bertrand, Jeslyn Archuleta, Adam Dupont, and Ava Dupont; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was welcomed into God’s Kingdom by his parents, Roseanna and Peter Sr.; his brother, Peter Dupont Jr.; and his sisters, Lee Ethel Dupont and Alexia (Curtis) Williams.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Benedict de Moor Catholic Church from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Edith Moss Gauthreaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Edith Moss Gauthreaux, 92, who passed away Jan. 24, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Fr. Jason Vidrine, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will be officiating for the services.
The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Edith was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She had many pastimes especially, bingo, gardening, sewing, watching the Bachelor, and her favorite soap operas.
Mrs. Gauthreaux was a member of the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church Altar Society and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Andrew Gauthreaux and wife Pat of Crowley, and Allen Gauthreaux of Crowley; one sister, Edna Thibodeaux of Youngsville; two grandsons, Brett Gauthreaux and wife Kysha of Crowley, and Kevin Gauthreaux and wife Shellie of Crowley; and five great-grandchildren, Griffin Dorr, Grant Gauthreaux, Gibson Gauthreaux, Gabriel Gauthreaux and Addisen Gauthreaux.
Mrs. Gauthreaux is preceded in death by her husband, Meonce Gauthreaux; her parents, Leo and Dora Alleman Moss; three sisters, Junice Breaux, Odile Dugas, and Hilda Martin; and one brother, Lenes Moss.
Her pallbearers will be grandsons, and great-grandsons, Brett, Kevin, Griffin, Grant, Gibson, and Gabriel; and her honorary pallbearer will be her great-granddaughter, Addisen.
The family would like to thank Lamm Hospice, Dr. Karrie Kilgore, and Dr. Patrick Dale Leleux for their care rendered to Mrs. Gauthreaux; also a special thanks Mr. Glenn Quebedeaux for bringing her Holy Communion weekly.

Donald Hugh “Don” Gautreaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Donald Hugh “Don” Gautreaux, 82, who died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at 7 a.m. in Crowley.
He graduated from Crowley High School. After completing his service with the United States Air Force, he attended college and graduated then moved to New Orleans and spent many years in the banking business.
Twenty-five years ago “Don” returned to Crowley and became the director of Mrs. Helen’s Soup Kitchen until 2017. He was a devout Catholic and devoted member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and was always helping those who were less fortunate. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5499 and was the past Grand Knight.
Fr. Mikel Polson, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. A rosary will be recited Friday at 6 p.m.
Burial will be in North Hanks Cemetery.
“Don” is survived by three sisters, Marjorie G. McCormick and husband Robert, and Lois G. Brougham and husband Carl, both of Crowley, and Darlene Gautreaux of Beaumont, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews; and his beloved boxer, Sophia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Amy Champagne Gautreaux; two brothers, Russell and Robert Gautreaux; a nephew, Donnie McCormick; a great-nephew, Daniel Oliver Miller II.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Lamm Hospice for their love, dedication and care of Don these last two weeks.
