Yvonne Pringle Perrodin

October 16, 1921 - September 25, 2018
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Yvonne Pringle Perrodin announces her passing on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, with loving family by her side in the comfort of her home. She was 96.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice.
Rite of Committal will follow in the Wilmer Memorial Cemetery in LeCompte with Father Matthew Hebert as celebrant.
Mrs. Perrodin was born on October 16, 1921, in Glenmora. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in 1943 as well a Master Degree in Education from Colorado State College in 1953 and earned her 30-plus hours in education at USL. Mrs. Perrodin taught school for 32 years. She taught at Basile Elementary and later Eunice Junior High School.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters for 28 years and volunteered as a Pink Lady for 27 years. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and loved planting flowers in her yard but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her, especially her children, Stephanie Perrodin Elfert and husband Dr. Dan Elfert of Crowley, Susan Perrodin Hoychick of Eunice, Keenan Perrodin and wife Bonnie of Bridge City, Texas, and Scott Perrodin and wife Lynda of Eunice; one brother, Edgar “Sonny” Pringle III and wife Gerrie of LeCompte; her grandchildren, Jody Elfert and wife Juli, Dr. Justin Elfert and wife Jeanne, Samantha and Sarah Elfert, Lindsay Hoychick Arabie and husband Donavon, Jeslyn Hoychick Orgain and husband Alan, Kaitlin Hoychick, Colby Perrodin and wife Lauren, Haleigh Perrodin Thibodeaux and husband Cory, Ethan Perrodin, Lainey Perrodin Savoy and husband Adam and Tyrone Lee; great grandchildren, Jude, Joel, Jolie, James, Ava, Wesley and Camille Elfert, Ruby and Avery Orgain, Addison and Gatlin Perrodin; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Pringle Jr. and Gladys Ethridge Pringle; and her daughter, Judy Perrodin.
Carrying Mrs. Perrodin to her eternal resting place will be Jody Elfert, Justin Elfert, Colby Perrodin, Eddie and James Pringle and Ethan Perrodin.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will lead a Rosary at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Kevin Courville, Dr. Zeb Stearns, Hope Hospice and her caregiver, Nancy Thomas.

Olga Mae Killmer

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for Olga Mae Killmer, 94, who died Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at 11:20 a.m. at Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crowley.
Rev. Josh Scanlan will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 1 p.m. to service time.
Burial will be in Maxie Cemetery.
Ms. Killmer is survived by four daughters, Donyce Haynes of Beverly, Massachusetts, Carolyn Crawford of Kokomo, Indiana, Adrienne Krueger and husband Randy of Portland, Oregon, and Sonya Ghaddar and husband Ghassan of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; two sons, David Schneider and wife Arlene of Bellaire, Texas, and Paul Schneider of Iota; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Myrtle Fisher Killmer; one grandson, Simon Crawford; three sisters, Henritta Brasino, Lottie Leszczynski and Carmen Boulet; and one brother, Marvin Killmer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Lamm Family Care Hospice, 1708 N. Parkerson Ave., Crowley, LA 70526.

Gracie Marie Zaunbrecher

November 5, 2009 - September 24, 2018
It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Gracie Marie Zaunbrecher announces her passing in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was 8 years old.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice.
Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery with Father Travis Abadie as celebrant.
Gracie, a third grade student at Iota Elementary, was a girly girl that liked her bling and loved LSU gymnastics. She also was a tomboy who loved horses, farming, hunting and frogging.
Since her diagnosis 18 months, ago she never complained and touched so many lives and brought people closer to God. She loved to go visit Sister Dulce and Father Manny.
Gracie lives on in all her family, friends, and anyone who had the grace to be touched by her. She was a most loving daughter, sister, grandchild, niece and friend and will be missed dearly by everyone especially her parents, Byron and Maile Zaunbrecher of Mowata; her siblings, Zoie and Colton Zaunbrecher, both of Mowata; her grandparents, Dale and Gwen Zaunbrecher of Mowata and Russell and Gina Douget of Iota; her great grandparents, Albert and Gracie Guillory of Mamou and Katherine Douget of Iota; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her great grandparents, Blaise and Bernardine Leonards and Frank and Hilda Zaunbrecher.
At the request of the family, visitation began at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Eunice on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 1:30 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Fr. Tran led a Rosary at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Irving D. Abshire Jr.

Funeral services will be held for Irving D. Abshire Jr., 69, on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home-Crowley Chapel with Brother Gerard Morgan officiating.
Visitation will begin in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and will resume on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until just prior to the service time.
Interment will follow the chapel service and will be in Abshire Cemetery in Kaplan.
Mr. Abshire passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Mr. Abshire is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jo Anne Abshire of Crowley; one son, Christopher Abshire and wife Rebecca Abshire of Fairview, Tennessee; three grandsons, Tyler Abshire of Orange, Texas, Cayden Abshire of Fairview, Tennessee, and Dylan Moran and wife Millie Moran also of Fairview, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Alyssa Abshire of Fairview, Tennessee, Ashley Simon of Lebanon, Tennessee; three great-grandchildren, Lexie Moran, Lensey Moran and Lilly Moran; three sisters, Yvonne Welch, Margie Lormand and Lois Roby; one brother, Amos Abshire; as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivy and Nola Abshire; one grandson, Aaron Chase Abshire; three brothers, Damris Abshire, Ray Abshire and Bobby Smith; three sisters, Leanna Wheaton, Nola Broussard and Jeanette Leger.
Pallbearers will be Chris Abshire, Cayden Abshire, Dylan Moran, Ashley Simon, Ivy “Kojak” Abshire and Tim Welch.
Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Gary.

September 15, 1957 - September 21, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marlyn Guidry announces her passing on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at Opelousas General Hospital at the age of 61.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota.
Burial will follow in the Iota City Cemetery with Father Jude Thierry as celebrant.
Marlyn enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts, but she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her husband of 40 years, Russell Guidry Sr. of Iota; daughters, Mandy Reed and husband Garland, and Katie Heidleberg and husband Leland, all of Iota; son, Russell Guidry Jr. and wife Katrina of Iota; sister, Suzanne Leckelt and husband Paul of Iota; stepfather, Willie Dietz of Iota; 10 grandchildren, Morgan (Trent), Amber, Dagen, Nicholas, Keaton, Russell III, Kiara, Gavin, Zechariah, and Amelyne; great-grandchild, Vivey Ann; as well as extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Deaville and Mary Deaville Dietz; brothers, Tommy, Rickey, and Allen Deaville; sister, Katie Deaville; grandson, Peyton Guidry; and granddaughter, Tori Jo Guidry.
Pallbearers carrying her to her place of rest are Dagen Guidry, Keaton Guidry, Russell Guidry III, Gavin Doucet, Zechariah Reed, Tommy Deaville Jr., Paul Leckelt, Jr., Chad Leckelt and Justin Leckelt.
At the request of the family, visitation is at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Iota on Monday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 8 a.m. until time of services.
A Rosary was recited by Janice Lejeune at 7 p.m. Monday.
