Mary Helen Benoit

BOSCO ~ Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Mary Helen Benoit, age 84, who passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. Fr. Mike Arnaud, pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, will officiate at the services.

Ms. Benoit was a native of Duson and a resident of Bosco. She retired with Advanced Products as a seamstress. Ms. Benoit enjoyed entertaining family gatherings and mostly, being with and taking care of her family. She was a parishioner of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Mire.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Benoit and his wife, Rita, of La Luz, NM, and Thomas Benoit of Bosco; three daughters, Judy Higginbotham and her husband, Terry, of Bosco, Virginia Trahan and her husband, Carroll, of Lafayette, and Angel Barron and her husband, Donald, of Bosco; one brother, Elridge Benoit of Judice; three sisters, Edolia Credeur of Scott, Betty Hebert of Carencro, and Ruth Benoit of Rayne; two step-sisters, Delores Babineaux of Lafayette and Dorothy Thibodeaux of Ossun; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Villery Benoit; her parents, Delano Benoit and the former Frances Thibodeaux; two brothers, Lloyd Beniot and Alphonse Benoit; and one half-sister, Barbara Forestier.

A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:30 a.m. Wednesday until service time on Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Benoit, Steven Benoit, Christian Benoit, Dakota Benoit, Collin Higginbotham and Jeremy Smith.

Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, (337) 896-3232, is in charge of arrangements.

Shower fêtes Hanah Quebedeaux

Hanah Quebedeaux of Crowley was recently fêted with a traditional bridal shower in celebration of her engagement to Ben Broussard of Morse.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Chris and Nancy Quebedeaux of Crowley, and the prospective groom is the son of Susan Clement of Morse and Mark Broussard of Crowley.
The Sept. 16 event, held from 10 a.m. to noon at DIY Party in Lafayette, was hosted by Megan Quebedeaux, Chelsea Hayes, Isabel Credeur, Amanda Hayes and Nicole Taylor.
The venue was decorated in pink and white, with a large pink and white balloon garland over the gift area. The guest tables were topped with flowers and greenery along with rose gold and blue accents.
The approximately 30 guests at the shower enjoyed a brunch menu of donuts, crescent rolls, boudin balls, chicken strips and crab dip, as well as a two-tier shower cake and cookies decorated with the words “love” and “Mrs.” and the initial “B.” A mimosa bar was fun addition to the menu.
For the event, the bride-elect wore a white knee length dress featuring bell sleeves.
Her mother selected a pink scalloped halter dress, while the mother of the groom-elect chose a ruffled sheath dress in light blue.
Out-of-town guests traveled from Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Oberlin and various other points throughout Louisiana.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Ann and Val Hayes of Rayne and Yvette and Glenn Quebedeaux of Crowley. Her prospective groom is the grandson of Rose and Edwin Clement of Morse and Marie and Roger Broussard of Crowley.
The couple will be wed during a 5:30 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 3, at The Charleston Ballroom in Lake Charles, with Rev. Rod Lejeune officiating.

Mary Christine Stutes

RAYNE - Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 at a noon Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, for Mary Christine Stutes, 40, who died Friday, Sept. 21, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond.
After a long battle with liver disease our beautiful sister passed peacefully surrounded by family, friends, and prayer. Christine had a heart for Jesus and found her forever home today. She was loved and will always be missed. Our family appreciates your prayers, thoughts, and condolences.

Interment will be in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart #2 in Church Point.

Father Christopher Cambre, Associate Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. A Eulogy will be read at the funeral home at 10:45 am the day of the funeral.

Survivors include her mother, Nancy Bush Stutes of Hammond; sister, Anne Stutes Matthews and spouse Fred Matthews of Baton Rouge; brother, Darrell "Johnny" Stutes Jr. and spouse Cinia Kilbert Stutes of Hammond; six nieces and nephews, Andrew Matthews, Jack Matthews, Caroline Matthews, Emily Matthews, Chloe Stutes and Jacob Stutes; paternal grandmother, Gladys Bourque Stutes of Rayne; maternal grandmother, Betty Ann Guidry Bush of Rayne; three aunts, Elizabeth "Liz" Bush Mooney and spouse Mike Mooney of Rayne, Ellen M. Stutes of Rayne and Shirley Stutes Cook and spouse Dave Cook of Baton Rouge, three uncles, David Bush and spouse Sandy Bush of Rayne, Richard D. Stutes and companion Baine Ryder of Youngsville and Charles J. Stutes and spouse Elizabeth Stutes of Lydia; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Darrell John Stutes Sr.; brother, Benjamin "Ben" James Stutes; maternal grandfather, Dr. James R. Bush Sr.; paternal grandfather, Joseph "Joe" Wilbert Stutes; aunt, Annette Stutes Bruner; and two uncles, Jerome Bush, James "Jim" Bush Jr.; and a cousin, Derek Bush.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Matthews, Jack Matthews, John Bush, Seth Mooney, Joseph Bruner and Brad Cook.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne on Monday, Sept. 24, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.
