Clara Comeaux Douglas

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Egan for Clara Comeaux Douglas, 92, who died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at 2 a.m. at Camelot Place in Rayne.
Fr. Jude Thierry, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited Monday at 6 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Mausoleum in Iota.
Mrs. Douglas is survived by one daughter, Phyllis D. Woods and husband Dayle of Egan; two grandchildren, Erica Sellers of Tomball, Texas, and Cari Saltzman of Youngsville; four great-grandchildren, Claire, Macie, Austin and Eli; one sister, Winnie Regan of Crowley; and one brother, Collins Comeaux of Iota.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Douglas; one great-grandchild, Chloe Sellers; one sister, Jackie Ewing; and two brothers, Clifton Comeaux and Edward Comeaux Jr.

Timothy Joseph Hebert

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Evangeline for Timothy Joseph Hebert, 57, who died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at 11:40 p.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Fr. Paul LaFleur, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Sunday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 6 p.m. Burial will follow the Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Mausoleum in Iota.
“Timmy” is survived by his parents, Clifton and Rosa Latiolais Hebert of Evangeline; one sister, Linda Gale Simar and husband Wayne of Lafayette; two nephews, Todd Simar and wife Maggie of Lafayette and Ryan Simar and wife Angelique of Houma; two great-nieces, Rebecca and Jade Simar; and one great-nephew, Kade Simar.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mathilda LaCombe Latiolais and his paternal grandparents, Benjamin and Ematild Cormier Hebert.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1400 Old Evangeline Hwy, Evangeline, LA 70537.

Birthday celebration honors Frances Doga

RAYNE - Mrs. Frances Doga was honored during a birthday party at the Knights of Columbus Home in celebration of her 90th birthday.
Born on July 12, 1928, Mrs. Doga is the former Miss Turguis, daughter of Lawrence Turguis and Rosa Meche.
Her siblings include three half-brothers, Charles Venable and the late Auguste and Preston Venable.
She and her husband, the late Ruby Doga, are the parents of a son, Donnie Doga and his wife Sara of Rayne, and a daughter, Norma D. Baronne and her husband Mike of Greenwell Springs.
She is also the proud grandmother of five grandchildren and two bonus grandchildren, along with 10 great-grandchildren and nine bonus great-grandchildren.
Hosting the birthday celebration were Donnie and Sara Doga, as guests were provided a delicious meal of jambalaya, cucumber salad, sandwich tray, crawfish dip, boudin, meatballs and cheese dip.
Her special birthday cake was a double-layer white confection half Bavarian cream and half strawberry decorated with trim work in her favorite color of lavender.
Among the special guests in attendance were Verdie Breaux Arceneaux, the oldest in attendance at 89 years of age.
The youngest guest in attendance was Elodie Jane Hebert, one-year-old daughter of Paul and Katie Doga Hebert.
Traveling the farthest to attend the birthday celebration were Sadie Melancon Bouq, James and Linda Gail East and Angie McBride, all of Hampshire, Texas.
Mrs. Doga is retired from the Acadia Parish School Board where she served as assistant librarian at Rayne High School for many years.
Special thanks were extended to all who helped to make this “young” lady’s birthday celebration so special.

Earl Guidry honored with 95th birthday celebration

SPECIAL BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION FOR SPECIAL HONOREE - During a special birthday celebration held at the Rayne Civic Center Ballroom, Earl Guidry Sr. was honored on his 95th birthday by his family and friends. Since his retirement from the Rayne Police Department, Guidry is remembered as the first African-American police officer hired to the force. Duson - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2018, at 3 pm in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne, for Pamela Lynn Church, 51, who died Wednesday, Sept. 19, at her residence in Duson.
Deacon Denis LaCroix of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Church of Duson; daughter, Stephaine Church and companion Donaldray Augustus of Duson; son, Richard Church II and spouse Tina Church of Rayne; mother, Greta Ann Magnon Richard of Rayne; eight grandchildren, Dontavien Church, Samiyah Church, Sophia Church, Silas Thomas, Levi Church, Madelynn Church, Alerrion and Kourtlyn; two sisters, Vickie Stolle and spouse Jason Stolle of Duson and Tiffany Benoit and spouse Norbert Benoit Jr. of Church Point; and two brothers, Randy Magnon and spouse Deanna Magnon of Iota, Robert Dugai Jr. and spouse Sabrina Dugai of Iota.
She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Lee Church; step father, Robert Dugai Sr.; maternal grandmother, Marjorie Stewart; three uncles, Kenneth Magnon, Alvin Magnon and Clifton Magnon.
A Rosary will be prayed Thursday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne.
The family requested visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Friday, Sept. 21, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
