Thelma Theresa Hebert Moody passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017, surrounded by her family. Visitation for family friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Geesey Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church at 2:00 p.m.

ROTARY DAY PROCLAIMED: Members of the Rotary Club of Rayne were on hand Tuesday morning when Mayor Charles “Chuck” Robichaux officially proclaimed Saturday, April 22, as “Rotary Day” in the city of Rayne. ‘Rotary Day’ proclaimed as Rayne club plans Ribbit Run, post-race events Saturday

Saturday’s second annual Rayne Rotary Club 5K Run — now officially dubbed “Ribbit Run” — will kick off activities of the third Rotary Day observance at The Depot Square.

Gregory Dubois, center, will become the new principal at Rayne Catholic Elementary School effective July 1. Dubois most recently served as assistant principal of Cathedral Carmel Elementary School in Lafayette. Welcoming him to the school are Father Kevin Bordelon, left, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church and RCE Chancellor; and Terry Gros, interim principal.

Dubois named principal at Rayne Catholic

Rayne Catholic Elementary School has named a new principal.

While their dishes were being judged, students had the opportunity to use a “blender bike” to make healthy fruit and vegetable smoothies using physical activity.

Recently, approximately 95 4-H’ers from 11 different parishes, with parents in tow, descended on Acadia Parish for the 2017 Southwest Area Commodity Cookery Contest.
