Raymond Paul Trahan

A Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond Paul Trahan, 51, will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne.
Father Kevin Bordelon, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will serve as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2, Rayne.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m., and will continue until Friday, Aug. 2 at 12:30 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Mr. Trahan passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019, in Orange Beach, Alabama.
A native of Crowley, Mr. Trahan was a graduate of Crowley High School and Southwest Louisiana VoTech. He moved to Rayne in 1996, where he was owner and operator of Raymond’s Truck and Trailer Repair since 2001. Mr. Trahan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mr. Trahan enjoyed boating, and loved going to Orange Beach, Alabama, every weekend during the summer months. He had gone on several cruises, and had another one planned for later this year. He also loved his horses.
A family man at heart, Mr. Trahan’s greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Kathy Lane Prejean Trahan; daughter, Katie Trahan and husband Corey; son, Raymond Trahan II and wife Brittany; father, Shelvan Joseph Trahan; brothers, Wayland Trahan and wife Caullet, Curley Trahan and spouse Christopher, and Jeffrey Trahan Sr. and wife Karen; grandchildren, Maddisyn Trahan, William Trahan, and Kaelon Trahan; godchildren, Trey Signorelli, Amber Menard, Jeffrey Trahan Jr., and Natalie Simon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mr. Trahan in death were an infant son; mother, Barbara Gautreaux Trahan; paternal grandparents, Ophelias and Bernice Trahan; maternal grandparents, Curley and Dorothy Gautreaux and Mary Borusiewski; and father-in-law, Edward Prejean.
Serving as pallbearers are Wayland Trahan, Curley Trahan, Jeffrey Trahan Jr., Raymond Trahan II, Corey Trahan, Patrick Signorelli, Robbie Signorelli, and Trey Signorelli.
Serving as giftbearers are Mark and Viki Clement.

Kenton J. Aycock

Funeral services will be held for Kenton J. Aycock, 41, at 1:30 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home - Crowley Chapel on Thursday, Aug. 1, with Rev. Bobby Jean Carter officiating.
Visitation will begin in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, July 31, at 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume on Thursday at 8 a.m. until just prior to the service time.
Interment will follow the chapel service and will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Mr. Aycock passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019, at his residence in Iota.
Mr. Aycock is survived by his son, Aidan John Aycock (Fontenot); parents, Charles and Debra Trahan of Crowley; father, Francis LeJeune of Crowley; sister, Charbra Tiffany Reiners and husband Jude of Branch; two nieces, Izabelle and Ansleigh Reiners of Branch; step-grandparents, Thomas “Wimpy” Bertrand and wife Linda Bertrand of Iota; uncle, Billy Joe Aycock and wife Carol of Crowley.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bobby Aycock; and maternal grandmother, Evelina Abshire Bertrand.
Pallbearers will be Jason Cradeur, Jude Reiners, II and Brandon Romero.

Ervin H. Prejean

A funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, at 2 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for Ervin H. Prejean, 88, who passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019, at 5:55 p.m. at The Ellington in Rayne.
Deacon Dennis LaCroix from St. Joseph Catholic Church will be officiating for the services.
Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Church New Cemetery in Rayne.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Tuesday, July 30, at 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 6 o’clock in the evening on Tuesday. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until time of services.
Survivors include three daughters, Glenda Gail Prejean and husband Francis Glenn Broussard of Sulphur, Belinda Sue LeBlanc of Robstown, Texas, and Cynthia Denice Prejean Menard; one son, Patrick Prejean of Crowley; one brother, Eugene and wife Beverly Prejean of Rayne; one sister, Joyce Prejean of Crowley; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Prejean was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosabelle Prejean; one son, Hubert Dale Prejean; one daughter, Mona Rae Prejean Gossett; five sisters, Nola Blanchard, Gladys Simar, Hilda Cormier, Leah Cormier, Marie Touchet; three brothers, Edward, Calton and Fernest Prejean.

Joyce Mae Achan

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, at Ambassador Ministries, 19937 Hwy. 90, Crowley, for Mrs. Joyce Mae Achan, 86, with the visitation beginning at 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
Interment will be in West Crowley Cemetery.
Rev. Keith Matthews will be officiating the funeral service.
Joyce Mae Achan, born Lecie Comeaux and more often called Mama Joyce, left this life on July 25, 2019, at her home. She was born on Oct. 5, 1932, to Bertha (Thomas) and Homer Comeaux Sr. in Garland.
Joyce lived the life of a farm helper’s daughter, during which time she was baptized and reared to serve the Lord. She resided in Whitesville and Waxia before moving to Jennings at the age of 13 to live with her brother Joseph Comeaux, whom she loved, learned from and perfected the life of being independent, resourceful, courageous, and God fearing
As an adult, she married Aaron Achan Sr., and gave birth to four children – Katherine, Aaron Jr., Alton, and Linda Achan. Joyce moved to Crowley, where she worked all her life devoting herself to rearing her children to the best of her ability.
She cleaned, cooked, baby-sat, sewed bags and garments before retiring and then volunteering at the Crowley Christian Care Center located just behind her home. She eventually became an employee and continued to devote her time and energy to being all she could be by helping others.
Joyce served God at Ambassador Ministries, where she gave her heart, time, things, food and friendship. Being a member of the Pastor’s Committee, she helped by adding touches that were unexpected and a blessing to others. She often provided sweet treats for all.
Joyce became ill and succumbed to that illness 16 months after her initial diagnosis. She was preceded in death by both parents Homer Comeaux Sr. and Bertha Thomas Comeaux; her son Alton Joseph Achan; her sisters, Lizzie Alexander, Lou Ethel Gordon, Gertrude Smith, Emma Simon and Bessie Johnson; and her brothers Joseph Comeaux, Henry Comeaux and Mitchell Comeaux. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Christopher Fontenot (Linda).
Joyce leaves a number of loved ones to mourn her loss. She is survived by her son Aaron Achan Jr. and three children and several grandchildren; her daughter Katherine (Priestly) Glaze, with three children, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and her daughter, Linda Achan with three children and nine grandchildren.
Joyce leaves four surviving siblings, Odelia Johnson of Crowley, Bertha Franklin of San Antonio, Texas, Homer (Dorothy) Comeaux of Starks, and Leroy Comeaux of Houston, Texas; and a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins, church members, CCCC members and good friends.

Sylvian D. Jones

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Sylvian D. Jones, 90, who died Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 9:50 p.m. surrounded by his loving family.
Fr. Ed Duhon will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday by Deacon Dan Didier.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m. at New Hope Cemetery in McNeil, Arkansas.
Mr. Jones is survived by two daughters, Sylvia J. Foreman and husband Chris of Crowley, Tammy J. Schexnaider and husband Vinton of Crowley; five grandchildren, Bonnie Chambers and husband Anthony, Bridget Joseph and husband Matthew, Misty Pinson, Shaynon Miller and partner Kenneth Cormier and Bo Schexnaider; eight great-grandchildren, Samantha, Nicholas, Garrett, Jake, Gage, Dylan, Ryan and Michael.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Rena Bell Riddick Jones; his second wife, Thelma Fontenot Jones; his parents, Ernest and Letha McLaughlin Jones; one brother, Anthony Robert Jones.
Pallbearers will be Chris Foreman, Vinton Schexnaider, Matthew Joseph, Kenneth Schexnayder, and Bo Schexnaider.
