Ednez Marie Boudreaux Gilbert
RAYNE - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ednez Marie Boudreaux Gilbert, 95, of Rayne, will be celebrated on Monday, June 3, 2019, at 1:00 PM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne. Father Gary Schexnayder will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2, Rayne.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM in Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 3, from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM in the funeral home.
Mrs. Gilbert passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019 in a Lafayette care facility.
A native and lifelong resident of Rayne, Mrs. Gilbert was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she expressed her faith by singing in the choir. She also cooked for the priests at the rectory at one time.
Mrs. Gilbert worked as a substitute teacher at Rayne High School, and also assisted in many ways at Head Start. She was a member of La Cuisine. Her greatest joy in life was being with and caring for her family, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Gilbert and wife, Pat of Duson, Daniel Gilbert and wife, Pauline of Rayne, and Mitchell Gilbert of Stafford, TX; daughters, Elaine Gilbert of Rayne, Lily G. Melancon and husband, Robley of Lafayette, Jackie G. Melancon and husband, Dale of Crowley, Michelle Gilbert of Austin, TX, and Linda Gilbert of Lafayette; sister, Rita Hill of Andrews, TX, and Wille Etta VanCleve of Brownwood, TX; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Rene Richard of Youngsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mrs. Gilbert in death were her husband, Millard Gilbert; parents, Dewey Boudreaux and Lucille Mier Boudreaux; sons, Tommy Gilbert and Donald Gilbert; daughters, Renola G. Richard and Marie Gilbert. sister, Hazel Bruney; and brother, Dudley Boudreaux.

Carla Jo Hebert Hanks
Carla Jo Hebert Hanks, 65, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019, of natural causes at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Survivors include her daughter, Angie Power; her “favorite” son-in-law, Ty Power II; her beloved grandson, Logan Power; four siblings, Katherine Dischler (spouse Doug), Darryl Hebert (spouse Liz), Daniel Hebert (spouse Sue), and Scoot Hebert; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers and friends, as well as her cherished “church family”.
Carla was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Rick” Hanks II; and parents Betty Jane Brown Hebert and J.W. “Billy” Hebert; nephews Shayne Hebert, Billy Hebert and Bobby Hebert.
Carla Jo was a beloved member of her community, devoted member of her church and brought a smile to everyone’s face that she encountered. Carla’s loving and generous spirit continues to touch lives as it was her desire to donate her body to the Health Sciences Center to be used for the greater good of humanity.
We, as a family, are comforted in knowing that her generous gift could provide many benefits to medical education, clinical practice and research.
A celebration of life will be held at The First Baptist Church, 228 E. Fourth St., Crowley, on Sunday, June 16, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help defray medical expenses.
Bobbie Lee Chaisson
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 3, at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Bobbie Lee Chaisson, 80, who died Sunday, May 26, 2019, at The Ellington Nursing Home in Rayne.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 Mausoleum in Rayne.
Rev. Kevin Bordelon, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Mr. Chaisson was the son of Jacques “Jack” and Catherine Baronet Chaisson and a native of Rayne. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and later of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (then University of Southwestern Louisiana). Although he resided in Lafayette much of his adult life he kept close ties with the Rayne community.
Survivors include daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Chaisson Holden and spouse James C. Holden of Lafayette; son, Chad Chaisson and spouse Tricia Cole Chaisson of Crowley; six grandchildren, Courtney Martin, Joshua Martin and spouse Andrea Martin, Samantha Martin, Chad Everett Chaisson II, Kaille Chaisson, Ava Chaisson; and great grandchild, Jacques Martin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Trahan Chaisson; son, Michael Chaisson; two grandchildren, Adiana Chaisson and Austin Chaisson; parents, Jacques “Jack” and Catherine Baronet Chaisson; and sister, Nancy Chaisson Menard Moore.
Pallbearers will be Chad Chaisson, Chad Everett Chaisson II, Jimmy Holden, Joshua Martin, Chris Cole and Noah Cole.
A Rosary will be prayed Sunday, June 2, at 7 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayn on Sunday, June 2, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday, June 3, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
