Mary Aucoin Reed

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mary Aucoin Reed, 88, who died Sunday, March, 25, 2018, in Lafayette.
Fr. Jude Thierry will be officiate for the services.
The family is requesting visiting hours be held Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota.
Mrs. Reed is survived by one daughter, Liz Leger and husband John of Iota; one son, Joe Reed of Iota; two granddaughters, Wendy Courtney and husband Brad of Independence, and Dawn Miller husband Donnie of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Chad Leger and wife Fannie of Iowa, and Christopher Reed of Iota; two great-granddaughters, Morgan Freeman and husband C.J. of New York, and Burgandie Leger of Iowa; four great-grandsons, Shawn Miller of Iota, Mason Stone of Iowa, Luca D’Amato of Independence, and A.J. D’Amato of Independence.; and three great-great grandchildren, Lilly Faye Freeman, Blaire Freeman, of New York and Parker Stone of Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Hurshell Reed; two sons, Johnny Reed and Timothy Reed; two sisters, Francis Aucoin and Ella Mae Thibodeaux; two brothers, Gilbert Aucoin and John Horace Aucoin; and one grandson, Peter Reed.

Rodney Abshire

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Rodney Abshire, 84, who died Sunday, March 25, 2018, at his home in Crowley.
Deacon Tom Sommers will officiate for the services.
The family is requesting visiting hours be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Abshire Cemetery.
Mr. Abshire proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by one sister, Doris Trahan and husband Clifton of Westlake; three brothers, Elton Abshire and wife Marie of Lafayette, Percy Abshire and wife Joyce of Boyce, and Jerry Abshire and wife Elaine of St. Paul, Minnesota; two daughters, Cathy Palmer of Crowley, and Loronda Dennis of Jennings; one son, Gary Abshire; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Abshire is preceded in death by his parents, Willie P. and Etile Trahan Abshire; and three brothers, Leroy Abshire, Dalton Abshire, and Willie Abshire Jr.

Thomas Logan Gardiner Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Thomas Logan Gardiner Sr., 86, who died March 25, 2018, in Crowley.
Msgr. Paul Metrejean will be officiating with Fr. Mikel Polson, Msgr. Charles Dubois, and Fr. Marshall Boulet concelebrating for the service.
The family requests visiting hours to be held Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Tommy was a member of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a medical technologist and owned and operated Acadia Laboratory, serving the Crowley community for over 50 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Jody G. Sarver and husband Tommy of Crowley; two sons, Tommy Gardiner Jr. and wife Tammy of Baton Rouge, and Christopher Gardiner of Crowley; five grandchildren, Andrew Sarver, Ashley S. Abshire and husband Josh, Alexis Sarver, Hannah Gardiner, and Emily Gardiner; and two great-grandchildren, Audrey and Jack Abshire.
Mr. Gardiner is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Beard “Sis” Gardiner; his parents, H.L. and Esther Toler Gardiner Sr.; and two brothers, Dr. H.L. Gardiner Jr. and Dr. Robert Gardiner.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Sarver, John Gardiner, Dr. Lonnie Gardiner, Josh Abshire, Bradley Beard, Stewart Beard, and Bill Malmay.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, St. Michael Catholic School, and/or Notre Dame Catholic High School.
