Jean Arick Simon Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Jean Arick Simon, Jr, 70, who died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at 1:58 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Following completion of high school and several years of college at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette), Jean volunteered to enlist in the Marine Corps in 1968 to serve as a helicopter mechanic.  Jean deployed to Vietnam for a combat tour as a mechanic and crew chief aboard the CH-46 Sea Knight and UH-1 Huey conducting countless combat assault support and search and rescue missions in support of combat operations which earned him the coveted Combat Air Crew Wings.  Returning from Vietnam, Jean was assigned to NAS Fort Worth where he finished up his initial Marine Corps assignment and met the love of life and wife, Charlotte Sue Gorman.  Jean and Charlotte married in 1972 and returned to Louisiana with their first born child, Brian, in 1973.  Jean worked in the Baton Rouge area for several years then relocated back to his hometown of Crowley where he worked in the local area for numerous years with Goodyear, Grey Wolf, self-employed businesses, Boeing and the city of Crowley as the Wastewater Superintendent.  During this time, Jean continued to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve where he was recalled to active service for operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1990/1991.  He achieved the final rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant and retired from the Marine Corps in 1995.  He continued to work for the City of Crowley as the Wastewater Director after which he moved to Dequincy, La to serve as the LAWCO city superintendent.  Jean then transferred to New Iberia to serve as the Parish Water Treatment Coordinator.  Jean’s final job before retiring in August 2017 was as a water treatment consultant for rural municipalities with the Louisiana Rural Water Association.  Jean’s hobbies included golfing, cooking with friends and family, eating, coaching youth sports and volunteering in the local communities and with faith-based organizations like the Knights of Columbus.
Fr. Jason Vidrine, Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Jean is survived by his wife, Charlotte Gorman Simon of New Iberia; two sons, Brian Simon and his wife Cathy of Tampa, FL, Randall Benson and his wife Judy of Maypearl, Texas; one daughter, Cheryl Allred of Ftla. Worth, Texas; two sisters, Mary Hoffpauer and her husband Jacko of Atlanta, Ga., Cecelia B. Chambers and her husband Garrick of Crowley; Two brothers, Norris “Butch” Simon and his wife Brenda of Crowley, Norbert “Bert” Simon and his wife Sonya of Branch; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Arick and Eula Hargrave Simon; his maternal grandparents, William and Dolly Hargrave; his paternal grandparents, Jean and Amelia Simon; his brother-in-law, David L. Broussard.
Pallbearers will be Brian Simon, Randy Benson, Butch Simon, Bert Simon, Marcus Broussard and Clayton Simon.

Eraine Domino “NaNa”

March 10, 1980 - October 23, 2017
Eulogy for Eraine Domino (NaNa) (37) will be conducted on Saturday, November 4, 2017 1 p.m. at the Jerusalem Baptist Church, 927 West Seventh Street in Crowley. Pastor Sherard Marlon Joseph will be the Officiant. Visitation will begin from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be held at the West Crowley Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford and Joseph Funeral Home, Inc. located at North Avenue C, Crowley 70526.
“NaNa” attended Crowley Schools and was a proud member of the class of 1999. She furthered studied at Unitech Training Academy. Eraine was employed by Boudin King until her demise. She was employed as a Manager for over 16 years. Outside of her passion of taking care of her family, she loved to travel.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, La’Vera Davis; her mother, Abelle Marie Domino; her great grandparents, Isaac Blaze and Mary Lena Dunn; her grandparents, Zelma and Ervin Domino; her grandfather, Emery Krout; and other family members, Carlton, Sidney,& Timothy Provost;.
Eraine leaves to celebrate her life one daughter, Chyna; two sons, Chanz and Chandon; the children’s father, Chandler Moore, Sr.; two siblings: Brian Domino (Debbie) Houston, Texas; Markel Domino (Shameka) Crowley; Angela White, David Provost, Billy Provost (Tammy), Kevin Provost (Natalie) all of Port Arthur; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, friends and associates.

Enos “Nick” Paul Spell

Enos “Nick” Paul Spell was born in Crowley on Dec. 3, 1946, to Joseph Kelly Spell and Irene Sarver. He was called to his Heavenly Father on Oct. 30, 2017.
Nick served our country honorably in the Navy. He worked as an electrician until his retirement. Nick loved fishing, baseball and watching war movies. Nick truly loved spending time with his family. Nick was a kind and loving person; he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Nick is survived by his beloved wife, Gale B. Spell of Mermentau Cov; his two sons, Johnny C. Spell of Scott and Steven P. Spell (Tammy) of Mowata; his two daughters, Carla S. Ard (Kane) of Crowley and Francesca L. Spell of Austin, Texas; his brother, Harold Spell of Washington; his sister, Georgie Fontenot of Moss Bluff; his eight grandchildren, Taylor, Adam, Maddison, Noah, Erieana, Damien, Seth and Leo; and his two great-grandchildren, Kinlei and Isaac.
Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Irene Spell, and his three brothers, Sonny Spell, Winn Spell, and Alvin Spell.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Enos “Nick” Paul Spell, 70, of Mermentau Cove will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. with Father Randall Moreau officiating. Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church Hall in Mermentau beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral Mass. Nick will be laid to rest in the St. John the Evangelist Cemetery with full military rites.

Geraldine “Jerry” Ann Fields

Geraldine “Jerry” Ann Fields died on Friday October 27 at Lafayette General Hospital. She was a native of Lafayette and a longtime resident of Crowley. She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar Frater and Marie Ruth and her beloved husband Dr. Eugene Sandoz Fields Jr.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her four sons, Eugene S. Fields III and wife, Madonna of Lafayette; Patrick Edward Fields and wife, Elise of Prairie Village, Kansas; Timothy Allen Fields and wife, Katherine of Weatherby Lake, Missouri and David Joseph Fields and wife, Erica of Woodstock, Georgia; her grandchildren Samantha Kennedy and husband Bryce, Alexandra Fields, Calvin Fields, Owen Fields, Olivia Fields and Rebecca Fields; her sister Patsy of Lafayette, her brother William of Lafayette and her Great-Aunt Juanita. And she will also be greatly missed by her beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends who were like family.
Jerry loved spending time with her family and friends. Family gatherings always involved lots of food and love. Jerry dedicated her life to caring for others. She was a nurse for many years at the American Legion Hospital. She taught nursing at Louisiana Technical Institute in Baton Rouge.
At her request her body was donated to the Louisiana State University Medical Center. A private family service will be held at a future date. Memorial donations may be made to one of the following causes that were close to her heart:

Dennis Ross Phelps

Dennis was born in Lake Charles on January 29, 1988 to Dennis Byles and Catherine Inman. He was called from this life on October 29, 2017 Dennis loved carpentry work, fishing, and hunting. Dennis was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dennis is survived by his mother, Catherine Inman of Crowley; father, Dennis Byles of Crowley; son, Bayle Phelps of Crowley; daughter, Ava Phelps of Crowley; brother, Patrick Phelps of Abbeville; sister, Elizabeth Inman of Crowley; and grandparents, Louis Inman, Sr. and Jean Inman of Crowley.
Dennis is proceeded in death by his great-grandparents, Auddie and Henry Inman, and L.C. and Ella Mae L. Crochet.
Funeral services for Dennis Ross Phelps, 29, will be at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings, LA on Tuesday, October 31 at 2 p.m. with Susil Fernando officiating. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home beginning on Tuesday, October 31 from 10:30 a.m until time of his funeral service. Dennis will be laid to rest in Mermentau Cemetery.
