Lilly Mae Melancon Johnson

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Lilly Mae Melancon Johnson, 95, who passed away at home surrounded by her family on Aug. 9, 2019, in Crowley.
Fr. Brent Smith, parochial vicar of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will be officiating for the services.
The family is requesting visiting hours Sunday, Aug. 11, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 12, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mrs. Lilly retired after 30 years as a service representative for AT&T. Afterwards, she worked at the Acadia Parish Court House for the Clerk of Court and the Tax Assessor.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edward Johnson of Crowley; three daughters, Dora Johnson Leger and husband Calise of Rayne, Diana Johnson Hollier and husband Larry of New Orleans, and Suzanne Johnson of Rayne; one son, Allen James Johnson and wife Jane of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Troy Leger, Larry Hollier Jr., Monte Potier, Jason Potier, Michelle Hollier, and Miles Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Ryan Leger, Spencer Leger, Tanner Leger, Lilly Potier, Tyler Cole, Sam Cole, Max Cole and Pierce Hollier; and three great-great-grandchildren, Mason Leger, Maverick Leger, and Greyson Leger.
Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents, Obey and Erita Melancon; one sister, Beulah Laperouse; and one brother, Leroy Melancon.
Pallbearers will be Miles Johnson, Monte Potier, Hayes Pousson, Ryan Leger, Spencer Leger and Tanner Leger.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Johnson, Calise Leger, Jason Potier and Troy Leger.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lamm Hospice especially her nurse, Courtney Hebert, and her caregiver, Sonya Schexnayder, for their excellent care given to Mrs. Johnson.
Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley has been entrusted with the arrangements.

“Brent” Brendon Dwayne Guidry

It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Brendon “Brent” Dwayne Guidry, 51, of Mermentau, announces his passing from this life on Aug. 7, 2019.
Brent was born in Jennings to Dave Guidry Jr. and Gay Godeaux Guidry on Oct. 2, 1967. Brent loved hunting, fishing, and little gas cars. He also loved visiting with all of his family and friends on the Internet. His cats held a special place in his heart. Brent will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Brent is survived by his mother, Gay Godeaux Guidry of Mermentau; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Brent was preceded in death by his father, Dave Guidry Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Brendon “Brent” Dwayne Guidry of Mermentau will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m. with Father Randal Moreau officiating.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Cody Stoutes, Jimmy Guidry, Miguel Rivera, Bobby Guidry, Chris Stoutes, Scotty Stoutes, Randall Rivera and Alvin Humble.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Barry Boudreaux, Dennis Guidry, and Ricky Guidry.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings beginning on Monday, Aug. 12, at 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday Aug. 13, at 8 a.m. and continuing until the time of his service at 2 p.m.
