George Monroe Gross, Jr.

Hackberry - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25, at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for George Monroe Gross Jr., 62, who died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, in Texas.

George, Georgie, George Jr., Parrain, dad, honey, father, friend, husband, Uncle George, Bubba, brother, brother-n-law — so many names to describe one man. A confident man that never met a stranger, he stood firm in all his beliefs and nurtured everyone from friends and family, pets, and plants and people he just met.
There aren’t enough words to describe him. He had this smile that lights up a room, a commanding presence that was so gentle and kind. This man could plant a stick and make it grow into a fig tree, oh, and let us not forget the purple wondering jew. I bet Jody still has a pot of it somewhere.
George had so many special qualities and gifts he has passed on to his children, he was so proud of his children and held them above all and so many others. You never left the house hungry or without some bit of knowledge about life and family. George really loved spending time with friends and family, cooking, hunting, and fishing.
George was a man who was so many things to so many and meant so much to us all. The only name that seems fit now is Angel as he sits to right of our Heavenly Father.
Survivors include his wife, Jody Guidry Gross of Hackberry; son, Christopher Gross of Hackberry; daughter, Jackie Gross Guccini and T.J. of Colorado; grandson, Chap Guccini; two step-grandaughters, Brecken Guccini and Ashlynn Guccini; four sisters, Sarah Gross, Mary G. Pritchard and husband Jason, Rae Gross and Carol G. Huffman; his stepmother, Lynne Gross; and two aunts, Betty Perrodin and Beverly Dore.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Monroe Gross Sr.; mother, Evelyn “Sis” Perrodin Gross; maternal grandparents, Evelyn and Howard Perrodin; and three uncles, Howie Perrodin, David Perrodin and Clyde Perrodin.
A Rosary will be prayed Saturday, Nov. 25, at 11 a,m, in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne.
