Roosevelt Joseph Richard

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. at Northside Assembly of God Church for Roosevelt Joseph Richard, 81, who died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at 9 a.m. in Crowley.
Rev. Loyd Singley, pastor emeritus of Northside Assembly of God, will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Friday from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Burial will be in the Old Crowley Cemetery.
Mr. Richard is survived by three daughters, Nicole Richard of Hays, Kansas, Crystal Richard of Fargo, Oklahoma, and Cynthia Trahan of California; four sons, Jason Richard of Rayne, Kim Spell of Crowley, Michael Richard of Crowley and Farrell Richard of Vidalia; one sister, Wilma Thibodeaux of Lafayette; one brother, Huey Richard of Cut Off; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Trahan Richard; his parents, Oscar and Euphamie Savoie Richard; three sisters, Dora Menard, Lydia Richard and Louise Leger; and three brothers, Bernard, Gene and Louis Richard.

Dr. James R. Bush Jr.

RAYNE - A Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, Feb. 1, for Dr. James R. Bush Jr., 68, who died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
A rosary will be said Thursday, Feb. 1, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The services will be officiated by Fr. William “Bill” Roskoski and Deacon Tommy Adams.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Bush of Rayne; his wife of 44 years, Mary Bush of Rayne; two sons, Michael Bush and wife Courtney of Rayne, and John Bush and wife Lindsey of Crowley; two daughters, Mary Katherine Doré and husband Jason of Washington, D.C., and Elizabeth Leonards and husband Luke of Lafayette; a brother, David Bush and wife Sandra of Rayne; two sisters, Nancy Stutes of Baton Rouge and Elizabeth Mooney and husband Mike of Rayne; six grandchildren, Vivian, M.J., Jack-Thomas, Eleanor, William and Mary-Cynthia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. James R. Bush Sr.; a brother, Jerome Bush; two nephews, Ben Stutes and Dereck Bush; and a brother-in-law, Darrell Stutes.
Dr. Bush was born April 8, 1949, in Church Point to Dr. and Mrs. James R. Bush Sr. A 1967 graduate of Rayne High School he earned his bachelor of science degree from USL in Lafayette. He went on to complete studies at the LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans in 1975.
He practiced dentistry in Baton Rouge between 1975 and 1985, after which, he returned home and served the Rayne community from 1986 until 2009.
Dr. Bush was a member of the Rayne Lions Club and the 6th District Dental Association.
He will be remembered not only as a kind and loving person, always willing to help in any way possible; but, also as a compassionate dentist and caregiver who cared for all his patients.

Letia Marie Arceneaux Guidry

Rayne - A Mass of Christian Burial for Letia Marie Arceneaux Guidry, 89, of Rayne will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne.
Father Christopher Cambre, Parochial Vicar of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will serve as celebrant.
Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2 Mausoleum, Rayne.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 29, from 9a.m. until 10 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
Mrs. Guidry passed away on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, in a Rayne health care facility.
A native of Castille, and a longtime resident of Rayne, Mrs. Guidry was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She had worked for many years at Worthmore Five and Dime, where she served as a clerk and flower arranger. Mrs. Guidry enjoyed gardening, and was a longtime member of the African Violet Society, through which she won many awards for her beautiful flowers.
Survivors include her son, Charles W. Guidry and wife Sepha of Roberts Cove; daughters, Charlotte A. Champagne and husband Cecil of Nederland, Debbie M. Prejean and husband Kenneth of Oak Ridge, NC, and Debra L. Barousse and husband Blake of Hoover, AL; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Gossen Guidry of Rayne; brother, James “Jimmy” Arceneaux and wife Jane of Rayne; sister, Nell Menard and husband Donald of Rayne; 16 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mrs. Guidry in death were her husband of 71 years, Wilson John Guidry; son, Michael J. Guidry; parents, Claude Arceneaux and Alphine Halloway Arceneaux; brother, Joseph Arceneaux; and sisters, Joyce Melancon and Phyllis Arceneaux.
Serving as pallbearers are Brian Guidry, Eric Guidry, Matt Guidry, David Guidry, Ben Prejean and Svend Svendson.
