Lawrence Joseph "Ted" Doucet

Rayne - A Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence Joseph “Ted” Doucet, 93, of Rayne will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne.
Father Christopher Cambre, Parochial Vicar of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2, Rayne.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, Jan. 29, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
Mr. Doucet passed away on Friday, Jan. 26, at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans’ Home in Jennings.
A native of Rayne, Mr. Doucet was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
As a member of The Greatest Generation, Mr. Doucet served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His service took him to the Pacific Theater of Operations, where he was decorated with the Philippine Liberation Ribbon (2 Stars), the Asiatic Pacific Award (3 Stars), the American Area Award, and the Victory Medal. He was recently awarded the Louisiana Veterans Service Medal.
Following his service in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Doucet returned to Rayne, where he worked for many years as a Postal Clerk with the United States Postal Service. He was well-known and loved by all who knew him. Mr. Doucet’s greatest joy in life was caring for and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Velma Arceneaux Doucet of Rayne; daughters, Susan D. Leonards and husband John (Bubba), and Elizabeth D. “Beth” Ortis of Ventress; son, Brian Doucet and wife Cindy of Ventress; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mr. Doucet in death were his parents, Gaston Doucet and Leah Meche Doucet; and brothers, Leston Doucet, Anthony Doucet, Elton Doucet and Chevis Doucet.

Elnora H. Harmon

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Crowley for Mrs. Elnora Helen Harmon, 87, who passed away on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Interment will be in West Crowley Cemetery.
Rev. Keith Matthew, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, will be officiating the funeral service.
Mrs. Harmon leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, John Christman (Jennifer), Louis Harmon Jr. and Joseph James Harmon, all of Crowley; six daughters, Naomi Jackson of Lafayette, Ida Patton (Hardy), Antionette Harmon, Kattie Harmon, Linda Faye Harmon and Andreal Harmon, all of Crowley; 32 grandchildren; 54great grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mrs. Harmon was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Harmon Sr.; and her parents, George Washington and Lillian Hayes Washington.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Barbara Theriot Hanley

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for Barbara Theriot Hanley, 85, who died Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at 3:35 a.m. at The Carpenter House of Acadiana in Lafayette.
Fr. Edward Duhon, Priest in Residence of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will officiate for the service.
The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 10 a.m. to service time. A rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Barbara was born in Winnsboro. After high school, she worked for a short period of time at St. Pat’s Hospital in Lake Charles. She graduated from beauty school and became a licensed cosmetologist and owned and operated Hanley’s Beauty Shop for over 50 years. She enjoyed the friendship she had with her customers.
Barbara was a member of the Crowley Town Club where she enjoyed playing cards. She enjoyed watching sports, bowling, reading and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joseph V. “Bubbie” Hanley Jr. of Crowley; one son, John Hanley of Crowley; three daughters, Stephanie Hanley and Tammy Hanley both of Crowley, and Kathleen Stringer and husband Jason of Big Lake; three brothers, Billy Theriot and wife Vera of Texas, Jimmy Woitt of Mississippi, and Johnny Woitt and wife Carolyn of Florida; two grandchildren, Lynn Pourciaux and wife Ersinia of Idaho, and Colleen Stringer of Big Lake; two great-grandchildren, Isabela and Liliana Pourciaux of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Theriot and Norma Ollene Madden Woitt; one sister, Cogie Vincent.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Woitt, Johnny Woitt, Jason Stringer, Chuck Guidry, Tim Herpin and Nicholas Guidry.
