Marvin R. Sarver

Funeral services will be held for Marvin R. Sarver, 81, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, in the Duhon Funeral Home - Crowley Chapel with Brother Randy Trahan officiating.
Visitation began on Monday, Dec. 18, at 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m. until just prior to the service time. Interment will follow the chapel service and will be in Acadia Resthaven Cemetery in Crowley.
Mr. Sarver passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Crowley due to complications of Parkinson’s Disease.
Marvin was employed at the Estherwood Rice Mill for 22 years, until its closing and retired from the City of Crowley with 16 years of service in 1998. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle to many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Pizzolatto Sarver; son, Christopher Sarver and wife Leslie of Crowley; granddaughter, Katie Lynn Sarver also of Crowley; honorary sons, Warren Garrie and Darrell Garrie, both of Crowley; sisters, Betty S. Mouton and Margie S. Benoit, both of Crowley; brothers, Michael Sarver of Crowley and Robert Sarver of Texas City, Texas; brother-in-law, A.J. Pizzolatto; sister-in-law, Patricia Gauthreaux and husband Andrew, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Sarver, all of Crowley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sarver was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter, Natalie Jo Sarver; parents, Veranas and Ella F. Sarver; sisters, Loretta S. Mire and Linda S. LeJeune; and one brother, David Sarver.
The family would also like to thank Southwind Nursing and Rehab Center, Lamm Hospice and Dr. Karrie Kilgore for all their loving care.

Lydia Toups Kuffler

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for Lydia Toups Kuffler, 83, who died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at 7:35 p.m. at New Iberia Manor South in New Iberia.
Rev. Jason Corder, pastor of Forest Park Church of Christ, will officiate the services.
The family requests visiting hours Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Kuffler is survived by two daughters, Geraldine K. Credeur of Carencro, Dolores K. Fogleman and husband Trent of Crowley; three sons, Robert Kuffler and wife Kathy of Estherwood, Kenneth Kuffler and wife Christine of Lafayette, Jimmy Kuffler of Crowley; two sisters, Ella T. Smith of Katy, Texas, and Mable K. Breaux of Crowley; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Donald Kuffler; her mother, Ada Marie Duhon Toups; her father, Paul Toups; three sisters, Gladys K. Gould, Cecelia K. Cormier and Gladys T. Frederick; four brothers, Allen Toups, Alvin Toups, Henry Quebodeaux and Francis Kibodeaux.

James E. Magnon

James E. Magnon, 69, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, met his maker, on Dec. 13, 2017, at Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Crowley, he is the husband of Audrey Abel Magnon and the son of the late Alfred Antoine and Naomie Valdetero Magnon. James and Audrey spent 48 loving years together.
He proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps for four years. He left active service as a Sergeant with three Purple Hearts, a Presidential Seal, and Meritorious Awards.
He served under President Nixon with Marine Security Forces attached to HMX -1. He left the military and became a police officer for the City of Crowley from 1971-1980, followed by his work with the United States Postal Service as a mail handler from 1980-2003, when he retired.
He was a member of the VFW, American Veterans, American Legion Post 324, DAV, Wounded Warrior Project, St. Judes, Vietnam Veterans Association, Marine Corp League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Timothy A., husband of Tammy Magnon, Reading, Pennsylvania; and a daughter, Angelinna N. Morales, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Alex Chavez, Johnathan, Millina, Noah Morales; and great-grandchildren, Layla, Avery, Damien; a brother, Horace Stutes; and two sisters, Jane, wife of Reese Borell, and Barbara, wife of Carroll Guillbeau.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl A. Magnon; brothers, Ira Magnon, Lawrence Stutes Sr., Malcolm Magnon; sisters, Hazel Embry and Hilda Tauchette.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend James’ Memorial Service at The Groffs Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 528 W. Orange St., (corner of W. Orange and Pine Sts.), Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17603 on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Richard Hampton officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Groffs from 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be held at a later date.

David Nelson Fluitt Jr.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Ebenezer Church of the Nazarene honoring the life of David Nelson Fluitt Jr., 80, who died Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at his residence.
He is survived by his son, Todd Fluitt of Rayne; three daughters, Alisa Boatman and husband Chad of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Melinda Fluitt of Crowley, and Nicole Fluitt of Rayne; eight grandchildren, Wesley Boatman, David Williams, Christian Boatman, Chasity Fluitt, Cassidy Fluitt, Casey Fluitt, Naomi Sonnier, and Samuel Whalen; three brothers, Norwood King and wife Corinda of Texas, Jerry Fluitt and wife Rebecca of Gueydan, and Calvin Fluitt and wife Brenda of Texas; two sisters, Deanna Lemaire and husband Ronnie of Gueydan and Sue Conrad and husband Benny of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Nelson Fluitt Sr. and the former Anna Campbell; and five of his siblings.

Judith Oliver Atkinson

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church for Judith Oliver Atkinson, 73, who died Dec. 17, 2017.
Rev. Loyd Singley, pastor emeritus of Northside Assembly of God Church will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Nolan L. Atkinson of Ebenezer; one daughter, Kayla Atkinson Guillotte and husband Jude of Crowley; one son, Jeff Atkinson and wife Cynthia of Duson; one sister, Bonnie O. Guidry; one brother, Wilgus Anthony “Tony” Oliver; and three grandchildren, Tori Guillotte of Duson, Jordan Guillotte of Crowley, and Jacob Atkinson of Duson.
Mrs. Atkinson is preceded in death by her parents, Pinkney Edward and Gladys Robinson Oliver; one sister, Etta Mae Vidrine; and one brother, Willard Oliver.
