Beatrice C. Melancon

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 28, at 2 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Beatrice “Bea” Melancon, 73, who passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at 8:59 p.m. at her home in Crowley.
Rev. Dustin Miller, pastor of Elton Assembly of God Church in Elton, will be officiating for the services.
Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic New Cemetery in Rayne.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Wednesday, June 27, at 11 a.m.. until 10 p.m. in the funeral home chapel in Crowley. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 8 a.m. until time of services.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Milton J. Melancon Sr. of Crowley; one daughter, Melody and husband Rev. Dustin Miller of Crowley; two step daughters, Eleanor “Tini” Baham of Scott and Sharon Bertrand of Crowley; four step-sons, Milton J. Melancon Jr. and wife Juliana of Lafayette, Darrell and wife Donna Melancon of Rayne, Timmy Melancon of Rayne and Teddy Melancon of Rayne; four sisters, Verline LaSalle of Crowley, Arlene C. Broussard of Rayne, Cherelle Gonzales of Rayne and Debbie Brucker of Lake Charles; two brothers, Rickey Lantier of Estherwood and Kenneth Credeur of Rayne; one grandchild, Gabrielle Miller of Crowley; 18 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Melancon was preceded in death by one step son, Tommy Melancon; her parents, Elridge Credeur and Lena St. Amant; and two sisters, Eula Mae Doucet and Rosa Richard.

Buatt services slated Wednesday

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27, at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church for Dr. James Madison Buatt Jr., 93, who died Sunday, June 24, 2018, at 8:30 p.m. at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Rev. Jimmy Broussard, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to service time at First Presbyterian Church.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery with military honors by the Honor Guard from Ft. Polk.
A native of Crowley, Dr. Buatt graduated valedictorian from Crowley High School in 1942. While attending LSU, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he was assigned to the Rainbow 42nd Infantry Division and served in the Pacific Ocean Theatre during World War II.
After the war, he returned to LSU, graduating in 1949, earning a bachelor of science degree. Dr. Buatt went on to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Loyola University in 1954. He practiced dentistry in Crowley for nearly 40 years.
After retiring from dentistry he was elected to the Crowley City Council where he served from 1993 until 2006. During his term Dr. Buatt served on the Public Safety Committee; Insurance and Personnel Committee; Community & Economic Development Committee; Revenue & Finance Committee; and Public Buildings and Recreation Committee. He also served as mayor pro tempore from 1997 to 2006.
Dr. Buatt was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing and was a dedicated steward of the land and environment. He also spent a lot of time woodworking and traveling all throughout our great country. He was known for giving most of his woodwork to family and friends.
Dr. Buatt is survived by two sons, Robert M. Buatt and wife Melva of Hathaway, and Louis E. Buatt of New Orleans; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Buatt, Margaret B. Crawford and husband Don, Kennah Buatt, Sylvia Jean Buatt and Christopher Buatt; and one great-grandchild, Cassidy Jane Crawford
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Jean DeMoville Buatt; his second wife, Helen Jordan Buatt; his parents, James “Matt” and Margaret Flower Buatt.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Buatt, Don Crawford, Tommy McNeely, Jimmy Landry, Johnny Casanova, and Bart Gilbert.

Tinley Kate Meche

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Assumption Catholic Church in Mire for Tinley Kate Meche, who passed away in her Daddy’s arms on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 1:00 P. M. at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette.

Pere’ Rozas, Associate Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point will be officiating for the Graveside services. Burial will be in the Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery in Mire.

The family has requested the visitation to be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. until time of services in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point.

Survivors include her parents, Tyler and Kaitlyn W. Meche of Mire; one brother, John-Tyler Meche; two sisters, Tailynn and Khloe Meche all of Mire; her paternal grandparents, Ronnie “Rooster” and Cathy Meche of Mire; her maternal grandmother, Kimberly Broussard and Jason Richard of Mire; aunts and uncles, Ronnie Meche, her Godmother, Lindsi Meche both of Mire, Elizabeth Sonnier and Mathew Castille of Richard, Kenneth “KW” Wilson and Brittany Arceneaux of Carencro; paternal great-grandmother, Catherine Meche of Mire and Deanna Castille of Lafayette; her maternal great-grandmother, Anna Woodward of Mire; her maternal great-grandparents, Rosemary and Rindle Wilson of George West, TX; her Godfather, Willie Rodriguez of Cankton; host of extended family.

Pallbearer for the service will be her Godfather, Willie Rodriguez.

Tinley was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Kenneth Wilson, Sr.; maternal grandfather, Calvin J. Broussard; three great-grandfathers, Shelley F. Woodward, Leo Meche, and Kenneth Castille.
