Norma Lou Ferguson “Corky” McCain

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for Norma Lou Ferguson McCain, A.K.A “Corky the Great,” who died May 19, 2018, in Lafayette.
Rev. Jimmy Broussard, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Saturday from 9 a.m. to service time.
Inurnment will take place at a later time.
She is survived by one son, Brian McCain of Crowley; three grandchildren, Jennifer E. Fjeld and wife Lynette Breaux of Iota, Allison R. Leckelt and husband Paul of Iota, and Corey B. Cormier and wife Katie of Moss Bluff; and six great-grandchildren, Nathan Leleux, William R. Leonards, Jordan Broussard, Emma E. Leonards, Seth Broussard and Chloie E. Cormier.
Corky is preceded in death by her son, Albert W. McCain; her parents, A.M. “Bunny” and Luella Geesey Ferguson; and one sister, Charlotte F. Wojciechowski; her former husband, William W. “Billy” McCain, Jr.

Mary Ellen Fusilier Davy

Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, in the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Mary Ellen Fusilier Davy, 73, who died Monday, June 18, 2018, in Crowley.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will officiate for the services.
The family is requesting visiting hours be held Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 3:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Interment will be in Abshire Cemetery.
Mrs. Davy is survived by three daughters, Miranda Abshire and husband Anthony of Lyons Point, Justine Istre and husband Leonard of Crowley, and Nikki Davy of Crowley; one son, George “Joey” Davy and wife Mary Jenelle of Ebenezer; four grandchildren, Scott Davy and wife Celeste of Crowley, Sabrina Dwyer and husband Patrick of St. Martinville, Bryan Davy of Crowley, and Chalacie Davy of Crowley; four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Tabatha, Emma Claira, and Thomas; five siblings, Roger Dale Fusilier and wife Debra of Rayne, Ronald James Fusilier of Rayne, Terry Adam Fusilier and wife Martha of Rayne, David Keith Fusilier of Lyons Point, and Tammy Ann Fusilier of Scott; and her godmother, Belle Fusilier of Branch.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Davy; her parents, Roicy and Mary Richard Fusilier; two grandsons, Dustin and Justin Davy; two brothers, Roicy Lee Fusilier and Leonel Fusilier; and one sister, Theresa Fusilier.
Active pallbearers will be Roger Dale Fusilier, Terry Fusilier, Ronald Fusilier, George “Joey” Davy, Patrick Dwyer, Bryan Davy, Anthony Abshire and Scott Davy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sabrina Dwyer and Chalacie Davy.

Lillia Ewing Guidry

It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Lillia Ewing Guidry announces her passing from this life on June 18, 2018.
Lillia was born in Jennings to Adrian Ewing and Alida Lopez Ewing on Dec. 11, 1933. Lillia was a homemaker as well as the owner of Guidry’s Grocery for 55 years. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and running their family businesses.
In her spare time she loved to crochet, sew, go to the casino and spend time with all her children and grandchildren. She was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lillia is survived by her son, Charles Guidry (Wendy) of Mermentau Cove; her three daughters, Shelia Seaux of Mermentau Cove, Barbara “Bobbi” Fruge (David) of Jennings, and Cassie Crochet of Jennings; her sister, Viola Bergeaux of Jennings; as well as 10 grandchildren, Chris Bergeaux, Scotty Fruge, Dusty Fruge, Heather Benoit, Shannon Hebert, Cory Seaux, Landon Crochet, Logan Crochet, Georgie (Gi Gi) Guidry and Jill Hammons; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Lillia was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian and Alida Ewing; her beloved husband, Warren Guidry; two brothers, Milton and Alton Ewing.
Funeral services for Lillia Ewing Guidry, 84, of Mermentau Cove, will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings on Thursday, June 21, at 10 a.m. with Father Charles McMillin officiating.
Burial will follow in Mermentau Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Wednesday, June 20, from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, June 21, at 8 a.m. until the time of her service at 10 a.m.
Carrying Lillia to her final resting place in Mermentau Cemetery will be Chris Bergeaux, Logan Crochet, Landon Crochet, Shannon Hebert, Scotty Fruge and Cory Seaux.

Frank Conrad Jabusch

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 21, at 2 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Frank Conrad Jabusch Sr., 93, who died Monday, June 18, 2018, at 9:23 a.m. at Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings.
Fr. Mikel Polson, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will officiate for the services.
The family requests visiting hours Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Burial will be in the Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Carpenter’s Mate Third Class Frank Jabusch was inducted into the United States Navy on 31 May 1944 and completed his “Boot Camp” at Camp Wallace, Texas. After additional training at San Diego, California, he was assigned to the 133rd Naval Construction Battalion.
On 19 Feb 1945, the 5th Amphibious Corps, which included Carpenter’s Mate Third Class Jabusch’s unit, the 133rd Naval Construction Battalion, assaulted Iwo Jima to secure an emergency landing field for crippled bombers and fighter planes returning from their targets. During the assault, the 133rd Naval Construction Battalion had the dubious honor of suffering more men killed or wounded than any other Seabee battalion in previous or subsequent engagement.
After helping to construct an emergency landing field and fighter airstrips Carpenter’s Mate Third Class Frank Jabusch was reassigned to the 56th Naval Construction Battalion in Guam. He was awarded the Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Ribbon (1 Star).
Carpenter’s Mate Third Class Frank Jabusch was honorably separated from the United States Navy at the Naval Air Station in New Orleans on 18 May 1946. He will be honored with military honors from the United States Navy.
Mr. Jabusch was a lifelong rice farmer and he enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking.
Mr. Jabusch is survived by three daughters, Sandra J. Walker of Crowley, Susan J. LeBlanc of Lake Arthur and Lorraine J. Breaux of Egan; three sons, Frank C. Jabusch Jr. of Crowley, Patrick K. Jabusch of Crowley and Bryan H. Jabusch of Egan; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Zaunbrecher Jabusch; his parents, Henry and Gertrude Wirtz Jabusch; one brother, Fred Jabusch; one sister, Anna Mae J. Richard.
The family wishes to thank Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home and Lamm Hospice for their loving care of our Dad.
